Scam or not is another issue, the fact that the OP is misleading is the real issue here.

Why does ripple being controlled by a single for profit entity make it a scam?

That in and of itself may not make it a scam but it certainly makes it centralized.  That some ripple proponents would call it a decentralized system when a core component of ripple is indeed centralized would appear to make the claim a lie leading some to call it thusly a scam.

I dunno...just pay attention to bitcoin and don't mind the man behind the ripple curtain?  Smiley
