[WTS] Unique crypto artwork: The Great Bitcoin Hatching - limited first release!

Today I proudly present a project I have been working on for several weeks now: The Great Bitcoin Hatching

The idea of a "creation of Bitcoin" artwork had been buzzing in my head for months when I finally came accross this wonderful eggy spot in a multi-dimensional fractal while trying some animations. After many dozens of hours of rendering, adjusting and postworking I finally completed this work. Here it is, showing Bitcoin hatching from its egg when Satoshi Nakamoto implemented the first version of Bitcoin in January of 2009.


Details on the print

print: 90 cm x 90 cm (35,4 inches x 35,4 inches), quadratic high resolution print
material: special sandwich panel using two aluminium plates (0.3 mm each) linked via polyethylene core (alu-dibond): very durable and visually outstanding
limited to: 16, all individually numbered in binary (see picture)
included extras: high quality wall mounting, hand signed and numbered certificate

Numbering on the artwork itself is in binary only. Certificate has the decimal numbering added in brackets.

Not sure how to handle this, but this one will be given to a gallery and not be sold for the next 10 years unless a *high price yet to be determined* is bidden, then I might sell it and give 100% to one or several charities. I will discuss details with my family and am open for suggestions.


Additional info

- The first print (0000) will arrive shortly at my home (I expect 11th of October next week). Photos will be posted here.
- The numbering as well as my name (Kryptowerk) is integrated in the picture
- I guarantee that I will never print any more than the numbered 16 editions. Only exceptions are lower resolution prints (postcards size, definitly less than 30x30). Right now I am not planning on doing so at all. I will never release the original files to the public.
- I will probably include a guarantee card about the above terms in the final sale.
- All certificates are unique prints as they have the numbering embedded in the image.
- Auctions will probably start at 0.2 BTC maybe 0.15 and maybe 0.22 - haven't decided yet.
- Escrow accepted if buyer pays fee.
- I reserve all the rights to change any conditions until final deal is settled and payment was made. I doubt I'll do it, just trying to be on the save side here.
- I plan on releasing 0 - 3 crypto related artworks per year during the next years.

- 0.22 0.205 0.175 BTC (reduced two times due to the rise in Bitcoin price) per artwork (if BTC suddenly jumps to $7k or dumps to $2k I might adjust prices - I probably won't do that unless totally neccessary) done, 2x
- I will pay shipping up to 25€/$30 40€ (~$48), if higher buyer pays the difference.
- #0000 can be directly purchased for 0.44 0.41 0.36 BTC and will then be unavailable for auction

Note: Due to the size and an error in my calculation I actually have to pay 34€ more than stated above. However I will of course not charge you any more than I originally stated.


Due to the extreme rise of the BTC price I decided to lower the costs for the artwork again. However to create a fair situation for the buyers before the Bitcoin-rise I decided to grant a 20 - 40% off for one piece of my new projects (coming early/mid 2018).

A photo for reference of a poster I created a while ago (size 120 cm x 120 cm - it's huge), printed by the same manufacturer - quality was pristine and I expect even better for the alu-dibond (it's 6x expensive after all).


Oh and here is what the certificate will probably look like - I plan on adding a holographic self-made sticker, will see if that's possible next week:

A short update: In the OP I forgot to mention that the mounting of the image will be drilled through each corner of the image via a steel round, keeping the image at a distance of almost 20mm to the wall.
I had looked at samples of all the available solutions and this seemed most interesting to me.
However there are other options available, you will be able to choose freely or even order without mounting if you have an individual solution in mind.
Also, good news, the finished product should arrive shortly, maybe even next Monday, probably Tuesday.

The first print (0000) just arrived. I am making photos and analyzing its quality right now.

4 things I noticed:
- alu-dibond seems like a truly nice material, as I expected: durable and valueable.
- unfortunatelly I am not 100% content with the level-of-contrast. I am contacting the manufacturer right now to see if is caused by the choice of printing material or can be optimzed
- Level-of-detail is as expected: very high, looks great.
- mounting: simple and looks very good imho

Will post photos and more detailed info about the actual quality, expected future contrast, mounting options and exact pricing for shipping in the next few hours.

My personal opinion regarding the print:

- quality of the canvas (alu-dibond) is superb, it seems durable and looks good.
- sharpness/resolution and level of detail is as I expected: details are all visible on the print, if you stand at a distance of ~20 cm to the print some small graininess is visible - it really does look good though
- now, regarding contrast, I am not as content I wish I could be: I have contacted the manufacturer if it is because more contrast is not possible on this kind of canvas or if there can be made some adjustments to the original file to create a higher level of contrast.
  As of now the very few black areas are only dark-grey and the few white lines in the centre of the images are a very bright grey (you only notice the fact that it probably is not true white if you have something with high contrast to compare nearby). The overall not-high contrast is slightly noticeable, though! I still think the print looks great, but also want this sale to be as transparent as possible and inform you about as much detail as possible.
- very happy with the matt surface, there are almost no reflections compared to the poster print I created a few months ago
- also happy with the colourfastness of the print

Now I am waiting for an answer from the manufacturer regarding the contrast questions. Maybe there are some options to increase contrast. If so, I will do so for all other prints except this 0000 one.

The certificate arrived today, I am happy with the quality. It will be signed via a unique stamp and my Kryptowerk signature. You can choose wheather you want me to write your or any other name in the owner column or leave it blank.

Regarding contrast it looks like it is a matter of the material. However I noticed I probably over-reacted. It does look great imho, when I took the first photos it was bright daylight, no wonder I was a little disappointed comparing it to my bright CAD monitors.
My girlfriend who usually helps as my moral compass suprised me when she said "you shouldn't have written that at all, it looks great". But hey, as an artist I have high standards regarding these things.

Hello my dear crypto-art enthusiasts, I am very happy to announce a few updates:

- after investigating further and having a great talk to one of the leading printing technichians at my manufacturer I am pretty certain the final prints will be higher contrast.

- the next test print is scheduled to arrive next Tuesday (again 0000), I have put all others on-hold until then to ensure the highest quality result for the end product.
(I will then have to destroy the old 0000 print, will be a great test to see how sturdy this material really is - video incoming)

- regarding longevity of the product: These prints can be put in the rain and direct sun and will not suffer from any loss of colour or contrast. That's what the technician promised.  

- if BTC price at Oct 31. is at $6k+ I will drop costs to 0.205 BTC and if it is at $7k+ I will drop prices to 0.19 BTC - if you have paid already you will get a refund accordingly.

So, the print with corrected contrast arrived today (one day earlier than expected!).

Now I am really content with the result. Colours and contrasts looking as I was hoping for from the beginning.

Thank you for payments so far. Your prints (1011, 1100, 0111, 1001, 1010) are already in production and should ship somewhere between 20th to 24th October if everything goes as expected.

I might take some photos maybe tomorrow, right now I try to stay low and get rid of that horrible cold of mine.
