Tell us how you really feel. Don't hold back. This is not a poll, it's catharsis. Be sincere. Be honest. Be brutal. If you don't feel anything really passionate to say, then say nothing and read feel what Bitcoin is to this community.

Bitcoin is going to be a success. Whether it succeeds on its own or through a successor, nobody knows, but it's set the bar higher than anything before it.

Bitcoin is the most amazing idea, with the most prickly community. Don't worry, I love you guys! But sometimes, I shake my head.

bitcoin restores full autonomy to each individual on the planet for the first time in human history. Its that big! The consequences of that are unknown but potentially revolutionary in that it could remove the current banking system, remove the current governments of nation states, remove despotic heads of rouge states and religions. I envisage a libertarian world of small co-operating communities where freedom is not just a word but a fact. and the surplus of each one after sustaining themselves and their community will go to the greater good of all. reg.

bitcoin is a mysterious invention that many people are trying to exploit while fearing the inevitable fascist oppressive tyrannical strong arm that will inevitably crush it.

Bitcoin is...a seed. Many will cultivate it, some will exploit it, some will simply let it set there until a better growing season. In the end, its fruits will be born regardless more please!

I envisage a libertarian world of small co-operating communities where freedom is not just a word but a fact.
That has been the case most of the time in the history of human being, within matrilineal blood-communities, just until the patriarchal hyper-collectivism arrived on this planet, about 10'000 years ago. Since then, male gods, theocrats and state terrorists terrorize the world with organized violence, and the people are forced to pay protection money in an unnatural, perverted construct: the monogamous pairing family/harem family (homo oeconomicus) for the purpose to generate surpluses for the rulers. Bitcoin, Bitmessage etc. could hopefully be some of the tools, which end this inhuman stupidity. Stateless communities do not need an economy, because they are autark / selfsufficient.

If only I understood how bitcoin works.
You say this thing evades gov't. But isnt it their money we trade it for? Where does the value of a bitcoin come from? Gov't backed value?
I am so confused
if bitcoin has the potential to act as a force against inflation, if the dollar fails, bitcoin fails.
We have dollar denominated world(USD is world reserve currency and quite stable against bitcoin), bitcoin is the attempt by a few to get dollar rich with little effort(im not complaining), but if bitcoin soars in dollar value, it means the dollar failed. The world wakes up and realized all the debt/military backed fiat, is actually not worth anything, bitcoin is now back to square 1?
What is a bitcoin worth?
The rest of your visionary ideas, I do applaud them, but are grandios delusions of money, and that of a world that DOES NOT exist other than in a small corner in your mind. Again I applaud you for envisioning them, but What is a bitcoin worth without govt money?
Not to mention the other dozens of things that can bring it down, everything from ElectroMagneticPulses, Gov't ASIC mining, corporate computing power, deflation.
And yet beyond all that, I see it working out in favor of the adopters amazingly well.

A new way of storing digital information in a permanent, time-stamped, unalterable form, the most obvious use of which is as money, but the full potential of which most people haven't even begun to grasp. If only I understood how bitcoin works.
You say this thing evades gov't. But isnt it their money we trade it for? Where does the value of a bitcoin come from? Gov't backed value?
Doesn't the value of government US dollars come from the Euro, since we trade billions of dollars for billions of euros every day? So, isn't our dollar backed by euro, which is backed by Germany? Yeah, it's kinda like that
