How many of you are planning on switching over to alt coin mining with your rigs once the ASICs hit the network at full force (3-6 months time)?

I think it's rather the question which altcoins are an equal alternative to bitcoin and their acceptance. Those which might
offer more than what bitcoin offers could be a good candidate.

Litecoin for sure, not sure about Feathercoin.

Does anyone like Feathercoin or WorldCoin?

There is something about GoldCoin that is intriguing to me.

Did something happen to it? I no longer see it listed at coinchoose

Look at the LTC based chart at coinchoose.  Crytpsy now only trades GLDCoin vs. LTC.

Is there a point to switching to a new coin system?
I realize the difficulty will become crazy once ASIC machines are common
Presumably though doesn't that mean people will build even better ASIC machines

I only ask because people outside of bitcoin still question the legitimacy of it, it's hard enough to push one digital currency let alone several if people ever want this to become mainstream
Also could of these ASIC machines and such be adapted to work on the new systems? at that point the hardware development (the hard part) is done and it's just down the software that runs on them

or am I missing something completely?

I am thinking of it, but there are so many alt coins.  Do not know where to start.

The current asics (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) cant mine litecoins cause the algorithm is different so litecoins can become an alternative to GPU mining...

Once bitcoin difficulty becomes too high some (most) of the miners with GPUs will look at the other coins while looking for an Asic miner at the same time for bitcoin...
if there is profit to be made in other coins ppl will mine for them and my view is that the existance of coins besides bitcoin is essential.
