I'm trying to do research on how to identify bad ICOs, which is much easier to do than identify successful ones.

Obviously you need to wait and see if a project actually generates profits instead of eats investor money to actually know if it successful or not.

But what are some of the most outright scammy ICOs you've ever seen? There's a lot to choose from, so let's hear your worst.

This is one of my faves. They've managed to attract an eye-popping $650 in just under a month!

https://aldoin.com/crowdsale/

I'm writing an ICO analysis of it for a different website, but any guesses as to why this one is particularly offensive? I'd be curious to hear your opinions.

Well I don't remember a name but I do remember that the ICO was so shitty that pictures of the team members were fucking horrible. One of the members was even sneezing in the picture haha! He was supposed to be the main developer  Grin Grin Grin

i think bancor was one of the worst ico i've seen. they took advantage of the hype as much as they can, and extended the ico period a couple of hours to collect more. however, i still like the project.

Monkey Capital ICO went terribly wrong along the way. I do not understand what happened but it seems there is already some bickering happening in the thread as well as in slack I guess because of what happened. Monkey Capital is the worst that I have encountered. I also heard something similar from Decent and Bowhead.

EOS

I should agree. I hate their one-year ICO politics. The price dumps all the time! There is no any sense to participate at this ICO after the first tier.

Worst ico is not a point for me. Good looking and fail icos are more important.
Pillar was the first of them. Then Spheris is the second and EOS is will be the next big thing in ico world.

Actually, we can just say any Ico as scam because most of the ICO came in the launching after a long years gap. spme of scam ICO such as OPAIR, DeCloud, MassNetwork i heard about but Im not sure if they are really that big scams or not...

I invested in this piece of shit called Mass.Cloud which turned out to be nothing, Imperium betting ICO is still up in the air but assuming it was a big scam, X-Play turned out NOT to be a scam but is only on 1 shitty exchange, but for the most part I always pick good ICO's. (ZRX, DNT, KYBER) etc. There is so much crap out there at this point I am very hesitant to invest unless it's a massive project that everyone is discussing.

I've never seen a bad ico because I have participated only 3 or 4 ico so far and haven't follow others. All of them were pretty good. Now it is very difficult for projects to enter exchanges so making quick profit is anymore impossible.

Tothemoon token because the hacked site already distributed the recent news about the possibility of the ttm project to be another project and that was such a crap just copy and paste another project's github code. There are so many badproject such as idice and bankera that already ran by the scammer of the spectrecoin project.

EOS

I am joining slowly EOS.
1st I was betting in some pomp at beggining to get better price and to get it over time. So I flip my EOS at 2x. (easy bet)
Then my target wa to start buying <1$ slowly over time and I keep doing that.
While others ICO end fast and pumps ASAP here you have diffrent setup. I would say fair free market seeking one.
Sure it dups price but allow widedly people to join. The time wil be when printing will end and EOS will start delivering like any other bigger ICO.
EOS is not best short inventiveness vehicle but if you back here in 3 years you can be shocked. : )
I think that EOS will have its time to shine.

there's one coming up called airswap where the users only get like 10% of the tokens

50% is set aside for some long-term account, but the wording sounds like the devs can raid it

and people used to care about 1% premine but the other 40% goes to devs & early investors

so yeah that's pretty bad

Make passive income here.. don't let the name fool you, do your own research and find out for yourself.  it's called exitscam, but it's actually legit.  Looks similar to a ponzi, but it's not.  And it's perfectly legal, not a registered security, as the "dividends" are payouts, not actual dividends.  Check it out at http://exitscam.me/luminium

Yes. I don't say EOS is a bad project. But it is overpriced from inception. And the ICO terms are crazy...

I am trying to realize that some great coins are here and do not even have an ICO. ICO model is slowing down.
Put your coins directly on an exchange... and let the market decide!

I've never seen a bad ico because I have participated only 3 or 4 ico so far and haven't follow others. All of them were pretty good. Now it is very difficult for projects to enter exchanges so making quick profit is anymore impossible.

last year a lot of new coins are very easy to enter bittrex and poloniex, a complicated era occurs when yobits emerge and reach significant volume, there is nothing to do both markets in addition to improving the quality of coins they have, today many decentralized markets such as etherdelta, and this helps a lot of new altcoins.

I see some ico who are accused of fraud but still legit that is LNK and Idice, they pay the participants with the price level is very satisfactory.

Some projects fail in ico sales are also often encountered such as TRIBE and Abab io.

I have never found an ico scam, I choose a busy project and dev is always active.
