Very well written article. If you're a Bitcoin gambler, YOU NEED TO READ THIS. It's something that people are neglecting and a simple form of technology that can be easily implemented. Why are casinos not doing this? It's so easy, so they could easily have non ethical reasoning behind the scenes...

https://cryptogambling.org/why-should-care-about-provably-fair/ (I recommend reading the article on the site, better formatting)

Why YOU should really care about Provably Fair...

Quote
When you stroll into a casino, approach the cash desk and leave with a handful of chips you do so for one reason and one reason only. You have faith that you might leave the casino a winner. This faith comes from the belief you have that the outcome of the bets you are about to place will be random.

You walk to the roulette wheel and place your bets on the table in the sure knowledge that neither yourself nor the person spinning the roulette wheel has any influence over the outcome of the spin.

This is not always the case online. You find a site, complete your due diligence and you make a deposit. You play and you lose, you play some more and lose some more, and eventually a thought crosses your mind… what if the site you are playing on is not fair?

How do you know that the casino you are playing at online is not simply generating any outcome that guarantees them the win?

Step to the rescue, Provably Fair. The latest online casinos are embracing a ground-breaking technology to completely remove this doubt from their players’ minds. To generate a random outcome, gaming sites utilise a seed and run this through an algorithm. A seed is simply a starting point to generate a random number and an algorithm is a series of steps taken to convert that seed into a pseudo-random result.

In a Provably Fair gaming environment the site publishes to the player the seed they are using in advance of the game, however they do so using encryption, such that the player is only able to determine the seed after the game has taken place. In a Provably Fair game, the player also provides their own seed to the server which is used as part of the random number generation process.

Once the game has taken place the player can decipher the seed belonging to the casino and verify that the outcome of the game they have just played was completely fair. That is, the casino generated the most random result possible without unfairly influencing the outcome in their favor.

Quite simply put, Provably Fair gaming is the fairest way of gambling anywhere online in the world.

Which is why when you play at a Provably Fair gaming site, you know the money you wager is in safe hands.

In many instances people have posted "Provably Fair" on their site and they have no " Provably Fair" system in place. Your average gambler will never investigate further and they will just accept that the site is " Provably Fair ". I hope the more technical inclined gamblers will fill that loophole and test and educate the people who has no clue how this system is supposed to function.

I also hear people can implement systems that looks " Provably Fair ", but once it is tested it turns out that it is rigged. Is this true?

I dont know if someone would decide to put their time or efforts on educating most of the gamblers on how they should verify if a site is provably fair knowing that not all gamblers are tech savvy which they would really have a hard time on realizing on what are the things being mentioned on here about provably fair this is why they dont really care at all as long they would able to see that there are lots of people do play on the site which they can assume that the site is provably fair.

After trying many gambling sites, for me, i don't really deposit big amounts on gambling sites because i do not expect to earn on those. I just deposit to see how and what are the games their. The only gambling that i actually had withdrawal was yobit.net  but that was a long time ago. I do have some withdrawal from gambling sites but the amount is not as high as how much i had in yobit.

Accurate observation. The same goes for "licensed" and "regulated" and to some extent even lowest house edge or best odds. In fact, if you stroll through the casinos advertised even on this forum, you'll find some glaring misrepresentations.

I definitely agree that Provably Fair is now the minimum standard. But players do have a rather steep learning curve when it comes to verifying for themselves if the Provably Fair mechanism is as it claims. For the larger sites, there are open-source tools out there to use but that still requires manual verification of each wager made. I admit myself I hardly ever verify my bets at places I already trust, beyond the first few I always do when signing up to anew place.

I also hear people can implement systems that looks " Provably Fair ", but once it is tested it turns out that it is rigged. Is this true?

I've seen at least one alleged case, which you can discover for yourself in this forum, where the system apparently would only show the seed if you expressly requested it. It's since been fixed.

My parent always said that gambling is not fair, the code can be cheat but after I read this, provably fair is something fair for people who do gambling often especially when they play with bitcoin and website based
If you're in live match for example Vegas, I think there is not provably fair anymore , it's pure based on luck !

Provably fair would be disruptive to the companies contracted to audit online casinos and their RNGs, making them redundant in fact. It would also eliminate the possible corruption that can occur in that department as well, taking away the human element in inspecting whether a casino is on the up and up with its games.

You might be get hacked also dude. What have done is perfect to save your bitcoin as well as to utilize the bitcoin in gambling. Still now bitcoin dice roll is working in Yobit site. When the bitcoin value was around 400$ I use to roll for 0.002 BTC for every roll but now value turns to 4k and even more. Yobit mostly operates as a trading platform only.

Each bitcoin casino, I am registered are "provably fair" and show the algorythm, how the rolls are calculated. But are they really all provably fair? Maybe a technician can look behind the "provably fair" rolls. In some countries in Europe slots must be programmed, that winnings are limited, not to cheat people, but to prevent them against gambling addiction, at the same time they must be "provably fair".

You guys should avoid yobit's dice they're not provably fair because you can't verify your rolls afaik.

im not really into dice sites. but good info over there. thanks for sharing.
This applies to all bitcoin gambling games out there not only for dice sites.

There's also a chance that we are getting cheated like this one for example.

That's true, I know two of them and they're both caught red handed here in the forum.

In the past we are more concerned about it, then after there are some cases of gambling sites that do not pay the winning money now they are know if it's not important anymore but I'm sure there are still some gamblers who are concerned about it because it's important for some games.
