Hello,

Hoping for some good news. I bought some BTC from coinbase and sent it to an address which is a mixing service. The deposit never made it to the forwarding address and I have since learned the company have been dissolved even though their website appears to be up and running. I copied the transaction ID and in blockchain it shows the transaction as received but unspent. What does unspent mean please? Is it retrievable? Have I lost the money?

Many thanks

Which mixer is that? If it's bitmixer.io you should have checked. There is a prominent red warning on their homepage alerting that they stopped their service.

Are you sure you sent it to a legitimate mixing service?

Bitcoin is universally known to be irretrievable. The one and only way to retrieve your coins is for the receiver to send the coins back to you.

Care to share which mixing service you sent the coins to? You should have used a reputable and solid one (like the one on my signature). I know it's too late to offer this advice but if you can provide more information about this problem, then it could help and serve as a warning for others here to avoid it.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. It was not bitmixer.io as I could see their service is stopped. It was https://bitcoin-mix.com/. It only says dissolved when you click on their trading name at the bottom which directs to companies house. There is a link to this dissolved company and this website https://cryptoforexltd.biz/?a=home as they share the same director and the same address in the UK. I am in touch with them now.

I appreciate what you are saying but it is difficult to know which ones are solid and reputable, especially when you are new and the site gives the appearance of being legitimate.

If it is gone then it is a hard lesson learned.

I'm sorry mate and it indeed a hard lesson. However, you should try to contact the site owner maybe they can send back your money since the transaction shows as unspent it mean the btc is still hanging there. Next time you want to use a bitcoin mixing service choose my signature because they will instantly transferred to your address after 1 confirmation of your transaction.

Hi,

Your bitcoin might be lost already and I hope you didn't sent them huge amount. There are a lot of reputable mixer services out there and one of them are in my signature. And since the demise of bitmixer, there are lot of tumbling services that open up. And they are all here in the forum promoting their service. To be honest, I'm not familiar https://bitcoin-mix.com/ and this is the first time that I heard about that company. I guess its really hard lessons for you mate. But I'm sure this will be a learning experience and please see proper research next time will you? You may want to check this mixing services https://chipmixer.com/ if ever you have plans to used one in the future.

As bitcoin transaction is irreversible, the best solution for you now is to try and send a support ticket to the bitcoin mixing service if they still have an email that are in use by the admins. But I guess the chances to get back your bitcoins is very low, it would be better for you to do some research online in the future before using any bitcoin mixing services.

Thanks for the replies and advice. It was not a huge amount of money at all, am just feeling even less confident than I was previously about using bitcoin and/or a mixing service again. It is my fault and a mistake I will not make again.

Are you not confident anymore because you didn't research and used a random service that no one never heard off?

As you said, that was ALL your mistake. Bitcoin mixers are safe, but only if you use one that works. Next time use your brain when messing with real money and do at least some research. A quick search and you would have found at least 3 mixers that are working with 3 clicks of a button.

It has nothing to do with the company. The mixer is a scam, period.

You should have researched before you put anything into the mixer, especially one that has shitty design that seems to be done by a cheap web dev and no history of trading. Also, if a mixer is offering your anonymity, why would they even be a company themselves and expose them to the public?

Consider your coins lost, unfortunately you have to be extra careful conducting any trades here.

First of all you shouldn't have used coinbase to send money to the mixing service. That is not good at all, since coinbase has every right to shut your account down in suspicion of you doing something illegal(even though they may have no basis for saying that).

Secondly, the service that you used was completely bogus. They are a scam site.

I don't even think that the company they put up is in any way affiliated with the mixing service.

Don't expect that those address been input in there are real. If you did able to trace up that it has the same owner then it is a scam. There are several bitcoin mixers in the market as of now one of them Chipmixer as you can see above signature. You should not choose up unreputable mixing sites because this would really lead up on getting scammed. Sorry for your loss by the way.

Consider your bitcoins lost forever. You should have used Chipmixer. You wouldn't have lost your coins.

I don't understand why people use shady mixers when there are reputable ones with a good and solid reputation. It's as if they are tempting fate or being experimental. Well, this is what happens when you inject funds in questionable mixers.

You should really consider that there is no link between the website you were on and a company name. Anybody can register a domain name and pretend to be any company - you might be going after the wrong people. Besides that, "bitcoin mixers" are effectively money laundering operations with a cleaner sounding name, you can report it to the police but there might be a few follow up questions from them or the taxman. I don't understand why anyone would want to use a "service" like this in the first place, unless you are trying to hide ill-gotten gains.

It is not only the matter of your little amount you have been scammed for. This scam mixing website is online since more than a year and i found another guy reporting same issue for his 12 BTC .
Check his thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1470554.0
I doubt aforementioned mixer have been scamming hundreds of bitcoin, i am asking why you don't take time to verify any service before sending your money?
There are many new mixers in advertised in this forum and all works smooth and honestly.

Sad to say but i don't think you can able to recover your bitcoin. That's obviously a scam. Many mixing service these days are just popping out of nowhere. So make sure you are using a reputable one like bitmixer or chipmixer. The one that you presented was unknown site. I didn't even heard about thisnmixing service. The domain is .biz, that is a suspicions link for me. You should have look for reviews before using their service. The site can be easily dispose and then the scammer will just create another site to find some victims. Anyway, i think you've learned your lessons. Don't trust anyone. Sorry about your loss mate.

Less confident? Then why you've tried to used https://bitcoin-mix.com/ in the first place? There are some mixer services which advertised arounf this forum and you have chose an unknown mixer service. People really have to do their research before send bitcoin into any sites that offers mixing service.
After bitmixer has closed their service, there are plenty of mixing service arise, and you will find it in this section; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=84.0. At least you have warned us about this site and you have sent just small amount of bitcoin, right?

And who told you to use that site? It's so unknown mixing site and you choose to risk your money there and this is one of the biggest lesson for you to learn and better to choose those reputable mixing service so that the issue of scamming will not came to you again. But It's good thing that you post that site name here and it can raise some awareness to the people who always seeks some mixing service frequently.
