I am actually getting a grip on some of the terms used here. So far here are the terms I am familiar with:
1. Volatile - swinging of prices in extreme ends or prices suddenly change?
2. Fiat - usually refers to paper money
3. Altcoins - coins aside from bitcoin

Can you share some of the terms you know? It would be a very big help to widen each others bitcoin vocabulary.
Thank you very much!

HODL: verb, philosophy; to buy and hold your Bitcoin, especially when the value is dropping like a bikini clad vacationer jumping off a cliff. More recently been assigned the acronym meaning "hold on for dear life".

The term originated from this forum post.

If you see someone yelling "Sell! Sell! Sell!" there will be 10 of us lurking about to say "Hodl! Hodl! Hodl!"

Thank you so much for sharing your bitcoin vocabulary. With that i really learned the terms they are using in bitcoin. Sometimes i really have a hard time in understanding what they are saying because of the terms they are using. So this is so helpful especially for us as a beginner.

HODL : This one is quite easy but you will come across it quite often.

Coin  ( Bitcoin, Dash, Litecoin )  : An independent crypto currency, meaning it has its own blockchain ( = big decentralized ledger, you might want to google this one )
Token ( Golem, Status, Adex are tokens issued based on the Ethereum blockchain ) : A sub-coin, meaning that it was issued based on the blockchain of another coin.

HODLING/Holdingis the act of buying a coin or a token and just do nothing with it, in the hope that its value will increase.

Some Bitcointalk member started a thread years ago misspelling "holding" while he was drunk, last thing we know it quickly became a meme ( just google image HODL ) .

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0

You might want to avoid using that especially if you're new to this industry, since it's mostly used by kids and "low grade noobs" and can be quite annoying.

Welcome by the way

Here's mine.

Bull trap - Trading terminology, set by investors in a stock who will buy large amount to cause an artificial movement of the price upward. In short false bull market.

Escrow - the person who's intermediate between two traders to secure the exchange. Also called middleman.

Exchange - it is the market where you can buy and sell cryptocurrencies to get some profits.

FUD - Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. It's the way to scare people so they will be hesitant on buying cryptocurrencies. Also the cause why the price dump.

Pump and Dump - large group of investors who will buy large amount to drive the price upward and publicized it. Its deceiving people because many will fall to the bull trap. Then sell after the price pumped up.

You should also explain "Cloudmining" for people to know the difference between normal Crypto currency mining and "Cloud

mining" -- Cloud mining or cloud hashing enables users to purchase mining capacity that of hardware in data centres. ...

Bitcoin cloud mining, sometimes called cloud hashing, enables users to buy the output of Bitcoin mining power from Bitcoin

mining hardware placed in remote data centres. So you do not own the hardware, but rather mine with hashing power

being generated by other people's hardware {In theory, but seldom what is happening... most of these sites are just Ponzi

scheme, pushing fake numbers and moving money around}

Normal mining is done with your own hardware {ASIC miners}  Wink

Nice to see such interesting threads popping up in this section once in a while.Although most of those terms mentioned here aren't really use outside of the forum but may come handy if you're planning to contribute here. Can't really think of anything at the moment but

1.To The Moon - When bitcoin prices keep going higher.
2.ShitCoins - Almost half of the altcoin section, usually trashy coins.
3.TX - Refers to transaction id.

This is how I understand these words.
Escrow - a third party selected and trusted by two individuals to mediate to their transactions.
Bounty campaign - is a marketing strategy employs to promote a certain project.
Forking - it is a network split that will create another crypto currency.
Airdrop - it is a free crypto coin that is being dished out by a certain project to the wallets of the crypto community.
Okay, I thank you for this useful terms, but may I ask or clarify the meaning of the ff:
1. Escrow- are these synonymous to what we call moderators here in the forum? Or are they the ones on the coins exhanges field?
2. Airdrop - when does an airdrop actually happen? And who will determine which wallet or users will benefit from these? Are they unsold  cryptocoins from their previous pre selling?

Any clarifications on these ones are very much appreciated! Smiley
