With the recent hype surrounding the eBTC airdrop that some did, and many did not, have a chance to participate in (and then all the follow up airdrops which have occured: eLTC, eDASH etc) I was wondering what people's opinions were on the future of airdrops and ICOs?

I think that we are going to see a massive influx of airdrops personally. I don't mean silly little clone and satirical coins (eETH) I mean genuine companies, who would of otherwise had an ICO, beginning to see the benefits of having an airdrop instead.

With all the countries that are currently banning ICOs (china, korea etc) I'm starting to think that companies who need to get a small boost of capital to complete a task in their roadmap may well start looking towards organised airdrops.

With the proof of a solid community (eBTC) it seems that it is possible to acquire value for the token prior to trading etc. While this one may be an anomaly I think the concept of free distribution of a small amount of coins could be the way that many crypto companies start heading with regards to pre release capital acquisition.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it's like a new trend about the airdrop things but please be smart. Most of them are scammy and only for quick cash, eBTC eDASH eBTCC and many else. Just look at announcements section, they are full of airdrop and the ANN thread is so cheap, only some words and if you look at the airdrop participants, most of them are new account.

Airdrops are actually more profitable than bounty campaigns because you don't do anything but filling a form. In bounty campaigns you are rewarded for the duties you do that take some time so airdrop is free money.

But as you can see a lot of the new airdrop was coming caused by the successful ebtc itself, but if you are thinking about the organized airdrop and that will be difficult because as you can see the fact that a lot of the airdrop token worth nothing this time. There are some airdrop that still exist this time.

I don't think that eBTC is a scam, but the other copies riding it's wave of popularity likely are.  That said I don't really think eBTC solves any real problems so it's not an amazing innovation or anything.

I don't know, I wouldn't really trust any airdrop that is going on out there. Bunch of them actually looks like a complete scam. Newbie accounts just open up some threads and write some text with keywords airdrops, join, free etc...  with a minimum effort and then there you go you got a scammy airdrop. Also bunch of them got no roadmap at all, or atleast some perspective future. Just check twice before you are signing up for something.

You can still join the DeepOnion airdrop. It's not just filling a form - you need to wear the DO signature and have at least quality posts per week, but it's well worth it. I think that getting about $500 weekly for writing 10+ posts does count as free money Smiley Moreover, with such a strong community as DO has, it has a good potential to become one of the top coins in the future.

Yeah, loads of people didnt get onto the eBTC one, some people made over $2000, it was nuts!

I've noticed all the new ones that seem to be riding on the eBTC hype but the one thing that made me curious is how they can be scams? You dont have to do anything or give any money over? Though I do understand about the dev selling all coins at first chance and abandoning the project but if that happens its not like anyone has paid money to it.

Airdrops are actually more profitable than bounty campaigns because you don't do anything but filling a form. In bounty campaigns you are rewarded for the duties you do that take some time so airdrop is free money.

They definitely are more profitable as, as you say, they require no action to get the tokens. As a company it will make more people will to adopt by virtue of the fact it was free.

But as you can see a lot of the new airdrop was coming caused by the successful ebtc itself, but if you are thinking about the organized airdrop and that will be difficult because as you can see the fact that a lot of the airdrop token worth nothing this time. There are some airdrop that still exist this time.

Yeah, I'm interested to see what next month will bring...

I dont think any airdrops have asked for personal infor other than wallet address and name really.

I don't think that eBTC is a scam, but the other copies riding it's wave of popularity likely are.  That said I don't really think eBTC solves any real problems so it's not an amazing innovation or anything.

These are my sentiments exactly, part of the conspiracy theorist in me thinks that maybe eBTC was made for people to have a chance at getting somewhere in crypto after missing out on the original BTC.

eXXX is the new trend, lets keep them coming. Grin Grin

Someone needs to make eXXX a porn token on ethereum.

I don't know, I wouldn't really trust any airdrop that is going on out there. Bunch of them actually looks like a complete scam. I do fully understand what you mean I just dont see how one could be scammed when all theyre giving is a wallet address and not much else. I could understand if you had to give anything to participate but you dont.

You can still join the DeepOnion airdrop. It's not just filling a form - you need to wear the DO signature and have at least quality posts per week, but it's well worth it. Yeah the Deep Onion airdrop looks like it is most likely going to be the most worthwhile in the long run! i hope I get onto it!

I am curious to see the months to come how many new and interesting airdrop Will be offered to market

Same here, I'm very curious.

Somebody can explain why bitcointalk newbie hardly get success with airdrops. I partecipated to many airdrops but never received a bounty. Mayby i did something wrong?

It depends, some of the airdrops and bounties are available only for higher ranked BTCtalk members... read the rules. In any case, usually the higher your rank, the higher is the reward so it's worth it to try to rank up.

Same here, nothing like free coins. If it helps what the developers and project is trying to achieve, and I benefit somewhat, what is there not to like? looking forward to these..

Besides e-btc I think they will not be serious about their tokens because their website has not been created, the development team is not explained and the purpose of making their tokens is also not clear

Airdrop is indeed an unique way of distributing a token and there have been multiple airdropped tokens over the years but none have gained that much in terms of popularity or value because of its failure to make an impact. Recent developments and advancements in the altcoin field have enabled developers to put forth their ideas and these coins are being distributed in airdrop rounds, having already gained popularity from the design and development. Taking examples of DeepOnion (assuming all the scam accusations are false) and eBTC, these have made a mark in airdropping their supply and made it successful that way. With all of this said, expect more airdropped coins with nice ideologies coming up in the future.

This is airdrop time... Everybody is creating its own token and making an airdrop from nowhere.
It's completly insane...

I think the successful airdrop of BCH has started this trend. The BCH giveaway to Bitcoin holders wasn't more than an airdrop. But BCH became successful in sustaining its value and people are talking about it competing with some top 10 currencies. What more the company wants from their token. I think this trend will attain more momentum in coming time.

I tried to buy eBTC on Ether Delta - but my transactions kept failing?  Not sure if it was an Ether Delta issue or an eBTC issue?

Did any one else have failed transaction for eBTC?
