Usage of link for dummies:

Ethereum smart contracts cannot call APIs (pull) directly.  So LINK is pushing data to smart contracts.

That's why without link ethereum can not be linked to real world usage.

In my opinion the marketcap of this coin is too high to make good profits and much too high for the risk of investing in a new project which only dazzles with some names on their page and with the big competitor Ripple sitting in a tank behind its back.
