It seems with the BCH fork, BTC's run up to 5k dollars, now more forks for Bitcoin most Altcoins have been in a downward trend, or certainly the ones I'm holding!?
When will the prices recover back to June highs? I'm hoping there will be a decent upside once BTC stabilises after this fork nonsense.
Although I'm debating whether to convert into BTC and re-buy after, but this could prove risky. It's just with all this new competition from recently launched ICO's and new coins I'm skeptical some of the older coins will reach there previous highs.
What are your thoughts on the Altcoins you're HODLING? Are you selling or accumulating still?

then maybe you should have planned ahead of time and sold them when you saw the downward trend and either stayed away or bought back at the bottom. instead of buying on top and holding just to watch the price decline. When will the prices recover back to June highs?
for most altcoin, NEVER. for others not for many months until they get a huge pump. the thing is that the previous highs that altcoins had were mostly pumps and bubbles and you can't expect the price to go back to the top of a bubble. I'm hoping there will be a decent upside once BTC stabilises after this fork nonsense.
bitcoin price never stabilizes! it has always been volatile with short periods of stability. and when the fork nonsense ends the price starts to shoot up! unless you call fast rise "stable". Although I'm debating whether to convert into BTC and re-buy after, but this could prove risky.
you should "convert back to BTC" when price is still high or as i said when you see a dump is happening not after it ended and you lose a lot of money. What are your thoughts on the Altcoins you're HODLING? Are you selling or accumulating still?
i never hold any altcoin for longer than i should. i buy when they are not yet in a bubble and dump them as soon as they are. and if i see a dump i dump faster to prevent a bigger loss.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

altcoin that I hold it down the price even 90% from June, I will keep hold because I believe later after fork altcoin will go up.

It always feel bad to sell with a lose, but I am thinking about it. I started crypto when there was a bubble for most coins, so don't need to say I am negetive now on almost everything

A lot of people are calling the bitcoin gold as useless fork, i think a lot of people will try to rush to buy the bitcoin to get the free token from the fork of the bitcoin. thats become a real thing.

Ever since most of the China FUD became irrelevant to the price of BTC and it has been recovering, altcoins are already on the road towards recovery though it has been on the slower side of things. Segwit2x will barely have any impact on altcoin prices as it would literally be treated like any other new altcoin in the market. Let's hope the market stays up throughout October and continues to be so in the coming months.

The fork from my point of view will bring about some massive uptrend in the market generally because the way it is, its going to be a form of pump into the market where we all get excess funds by holding. A lot of people will use the concerted rate to get more btc and thereby use same for to purchase any alt of their choice. I would suggest you hold as the pump will happen.

I think they will properly recover when bitcoin price sees new all time highs. And for most coins they will never even fully recover. Age of altcoins is passing slowly my friend. Everyone is returning back to home, bitcoin!

I agree with second post, for some coins, they will never recover because in june all coins with no exception were pumped hard but most are just trash coin. Good ones will rise again for sure.

Yeah this is good advice . . . given what happened during the BCH fork I should of been better prepared. Luckily I've had some wins on other Altcoins and BTC has increased so still up overall. I guess I'll wait till a pump and sell all my Alts (damage limitation), hopefully this happens before 23rd October as I'm away for a month!

Bitcoin fork may be a reason to altcoin getting dump. People are selling Altcoins and buying Bitcoin because they are getting Free Bitcoin Gold on 25 October. As happned with Bitcoin Cash. I think it will repeat again. Who will have bitcoin the same value of Bitcoin Gold they will get. And Bitcoin Gold going to Exchange on 1st November. And In November mid Altcoins will growup again.

Wait for a pump and revert your alts to btc asap. It's still rising as we speak. Then buy them all again after fork when they're at bottom. But of course only do this on your altcoins that are getting below your buy in price. Cut your losses.

I really do not understand this behaviour of most people. BTC goes up 3-5%, everybody sells everything they have for BTC (and those stupid telegram signal groups even advising noobs to do the same) in the hope of a maximum gain of 10% in BTC. If people would not blindly follow this trend, much higher gains would be possible with many other coins. I myself will use this to hold and buy more Altcoins as I did in July. It has given me really good results since then.

Yeah I may revert to this strategy . . . What Alts are you thinking will recover well? And when are you anticipating the pump, day after fork i.e. 26th October?

For me the market has already been recovered, some coins were just too high back then because people was pumping them. Some coins that I think have potential to climb back to their highest are Litecoin and Omise

I think alts should recover and stabilize at the end of this year. It was very strong growth this spring and begin of summer so correction should be deep and long.

May-June was the really peak of altcoin markets. I can't remember if that is the time that they just started to offered ETH as form of investment or not. Its also the same time the ETH reach its glory days, reaching ATH and most of the pundits here saying that it will overtook bitcoin as the #1 crypto's. However, since then it hasn't recovered and I doubt that it can duplicate it. I'm no longer holding any altcoins. Well only 1 token but I'm gonna hold on it for the next 6 months. My thought is that you should hodl as long as you can and wait till you get at less a decent profit before dumping them.

The good thing about expecting volatility towards a down trend now is that, should prices somehow go up, and the unexpected bull ploughs through the 5k mark, all the terribly losing alts I'm holding right now will recover. I'm going to liquidate at least half of my alt positions should they even come to break even, and then hold the rest for 2018/19. I'm just too frazzled now from daily checking and trading and swinging between profit and loss too often. Accumulating IS a possibility if they drop even more to 50% red.

I think that Nobody can correctly predict that when the alts might recover. But I think that situation might change during the 1st Quarter of 2018. Luckily I was not fully invested in alts and kept some bitcoin aside which I will be using to buy the dips now.
