There is no ICO about bitcoin gold. If you want to receive bitcoin gold, you need to have bitcoin because bitcoin gold is a part of bitcoin during the hard fork. After the hard fork, we will have the new coin which is called bitcoin gold. Therefore, you will need to have bitcoin if you want to have bitcoin gold. However, you can buy it after the hard fork if you do not want to buy bitcoin right now

You should find out what exchange it is on that you can trade it. Go to coinmarketcap, find your coin/token and click "Exchanges" to see of all the ones that have what you are looking for.

Neither mass panic, nor, I would add, mass hope. I think this new fork is going to end up producing something quite similar to the last fork, which is a shit coin that nobody really wants and that ends up not being used for anything, and worth close to nothing. These forkings are just a mess, and I'm not sure why people feel the need to keep doing it. Bitcoin is just fine the way it is. It has problems, yes, but I'd much rather have BTC than BCH or any other fork coin.

be careful, there is no ICO for bitcoin gold according to the legit sources which are related to this project. what they are calling ICO is the premine set of blocks. the link posted above by @taseerali99 has nothing to do with bitcoin gold. it is most probably a scam website. i suggest staying away from it. here are the official links and as you can see there is no talk of that website above in any of them yet: Official site: http://btcgpu.org/Twitter: https://twitter.com/btcgpuFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/btcgpuGithub: https://github.com/BTCGPU/BTCGPU

Mining Bitcoin is actually ruled by ASCIs, controlled mainly by Bitfury, Bitmain and Canaan. That´s because, the proof-of-work algoritme used on Btc is a simple SHA256, that doesn´t require a lot of RAM memory and more focus on mathematics calculations. On other hand Equihash (the new algoritme, implemented on BTG) is a lot more complex and requires a higher level of memory RAM. So we conclude with this, that BTG as some advantages to BTC, doe to an a lot more efficient algoritme.
I suspect BitcoinGold will put up a fight to Classic Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Gold is actually the result of Bitcoin hardfork. It's like a clone to the Bitcoin but with new functionalities like making invalid block/transaction valid again and vice versa. So if you have a Bitcoin already, that means you will also receive Bitcoin Gold. I never heard of an ICO about Bitcoin Gold too but i have once joined an airdrop for Bitcoin Gold instead which turns to be a scam because i received nothing from it. It's just a pure SCAM.

Bitcoingold doesn't seem to be a professional project and it won't achieve any success not even near to Bitcoincash. It's okay to claim equal amount of your bitcoin holding but buying them in an exchange would be a bad idea.

I'm a bit turned around on this.
Do all BTC holders get BC Gold? I only have nearly half a coin...do you have to have a full BTC?
Where does the Bitcoin Gold arrive?
If I have a desktop wallet, where would it go?
Confusing.

there are loads of articles what bitcoin gold is, to begin with. Try googling that first. Then, check exchanges for the BTC prices. Familiarize yourself with bitcoin wallets and which one supprots the bitcoin fork, aka bitcoin gold. After all of that, you will know all the basics and you will know if you can actually do something about getting that.

you need to hodl at least 1 BTC, and for each full bitcoin you own you will get an extra Bitcoin Gold coin. Bitcoin Gold will be added to your wallet where you hold your BTC in the first place. But, have in mind that that particular wallet has to support the bitcoin gold fork

yes, every one who holds "any" amount of bitcoin will have the same amount of bitcoin gold after the fork. even if you have 1 satoshi. this is not the traditional way of doing an airdrop. your coins will be valid on both chains and exist on both separately after the fork. Where does the Bitcoin Gold arrive?
where doesn't make sense. if you mean when, it is on October 25 If I have a desktop wallet, where would it go?
you need to download a bitcoin gold wallet (which is not even released yet!) and import your private keys in that wallet (highly risky).

See the following thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/757l70/here_is_why_bitcoingold_is_shady_and_a_scam_you/People are getting confused between the segwit2x fork (which is similar to the bitcoincash fork), and this bitcoingold thing which looks like a total scam designed to confuse people into handing over their bitcoin addresses. Read the thread above people, and be careful.
