After searching around and finding about 100 different opinions on where to store BTC for the October 25th fork, so as to receive the BTC Gold... I have still yet to find a solid answer.

I even messaged blockchain.info and they said they will NOT be honoring the BTC Gold. For the BTC Cash fork I just left my BTC in Poloniex and received the BTC Cash tokens as I should, but now I am seeing discussion that Poloniex, Bittrex and none of the exchanges are going to be honoring the BTC Gold fork.

So. What software wallet to store BTC in to guarantee we receive the full amount of BTC Gold after the fork?

I would advise  you to keep them in a wallet you control the private keys for.  Electrum, Jaxx, Exodus, Ledger Nano S hardware wallet, ect.  That way, on 11/1 when the split happens, all you have to do is wait for some tutorial videos to come out on Youtube (usually how I do it personally) and then split the coins when you feel comfortable doing so.  Doing this makes it impossible for an exchange to basically say, No, we will not split your coins for you.

I have read that specifically, Jaxx will not be honoring the BTC Gold split. I will message Electrum and see what they have to say.

Jaxx gives you a word list to backup, this is enough to export your private keys. Electrum has the option to export them directly.
That being said, I suspect the snapshot has been taken already so Bitcoin Gold creators can premine. That also means moving your Bitcoins to another wallet now is too late for this fork. But this is just speculation based on some of the unconfirmed sources I read.

Exodus will work just fine.  You can export your Bitcoin private keys from Exodus (there is a secret developer's menu, Alt Shift D) , then import them into a BitCoin Gold Wallet.  It is advisable, though, to move your original bitcoins away from that wallet before you the same private key to claim your Bitcoin Gold, just in case it's a scam wallet ...

If Kraken is not supporting the BitCoin Gold fork, then you need to move them off of that exchange before the fork.

The only one to be sure : Bitcoin core !
With Bitcoin core, your Bitcoins are in the BTC blockchain and you are the owner of the private key.
Don't forget : The owner of your bitcoin is only the owner of the private key.

Most  probably some of exchanges will give you the Bitcoin Gold as they gave people their Bitcoin Cash too. But it's better to move all your bitcoins to an address which you know its private key

^ I have a little bit of Bitcoin in Kraken, poloneix, and Vip.Bitcoin.co.id. when Herdfork Bitcoin Cash happens, I got BCH for free from VIP. hopefully, it will happen again after Bitcoin Gold circulating in the market.

I will keep my Bitcoin on the exchanger site. Smiley

I agree with that action, it is much safer than left in uncertaint wallet or exchangers that you don't have private key. I hate hardfork, they want to turn my gold with iron. BTC gold isn;t gold but iron. They should give name BTC iron or plastic. I think those name are better.

We'll be following the official updates to understand this. They don't have to announce that they will distribute bitcoin gold ones to the people having bitcoin. They must tell this first.

Bittrex gave out Bitcoin Cash to those holding Bitcoin in the previous fork (I got mine) so I'm hoping they will do the same with Bitcoin Gold.
I'm going to wait until there is a formal announcment form Bittrex before moving Bitcoin from my electrum wallet.
There was a method to use Electrum & Electron Cash wallets to get the forked coin but I've not tried it - anyone here tried it ?
Will the Electum/Electron trick work with Bitcoin Gold ?

Couple of links on Electrum/Electron.

It is good to keep your bitcoin in a wallet which you're the holder of the address private keys and 3 wallet I knew that have signed an agreement to adopt and
implement a contentious bitcoin gold fork are coinbase, xapo and bitpay. But the current negativity said about this fork don't give room for more supporter of the fork. Let's keep fingers cross though cause more supporter will step in.

Electron Cash has nothing to do with the Electrum team, it is a fork and it has unsigned binaries, not safe to install on your main computer.

Use a spare computer to deal with hardforks, trust no one and be paranoid. Excess security is better when it comes to bitcoin. So just wait for the official Bitcoin Gold client to be released and use that.

If you want to import seeds, you will have to wait for someone to release an Electrum fork.

it is a good thung that you are actively searching for different wallets to find the best. Also, you did a great job losting this here so a lot of newbies like me can get references on which wallets we should use. But i think we should consider looking for a waet that can be both used offline and supports the upcoming fork. Because i certainly don't trust online wallets. I maybe too paranoid but i just can't risk my hard earned bitcoins just for an altclin that doesnt seem to havs that much potential.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Electron Cash wallet. Looks like I'll just hold my Bitcoin in the Electrum wallet, better safe than sorry, and wait until there's more solid information about which wallet or exchange will guarantee getting the Bitcoin Gold bonus - if at all.

i guess freebitcoin is good place to store bitcoins for getting bitcoin gold. as far they was paid us bitcoin cash balances.

freebitcoin says :

HARD FORK POLICY
Bitcoin has 2 hard forks planned in the near future - "Bitcoin Gold" and "Bitcoin Segwit 2x". As we have done with the "Bitcoin Cash" hard fork in the past, we shall support withdrawals of all hard fork coins as long as they are viable - ie. have wallet support, a working blockchain and straightforward redemption policies.

here is url for freebitcoin site :
http://1ink.cc/ZMR

good luck!

I'll have a look into Freebitcoin as somewhere to store my Bitcoin during the fork, haven't heard of them, but then there's a lot of exchanges out there that I've not heard of so that's not unusual.
