I have an idea and looking for people to participate.

Since getting started in Bitcoin the one thing I have noticed is the difficulties new users face in exchanging fiat with Crypto; either to buy-in or cash-out and also purchasing goods.

I personally started Mining the day I first heard of Crypto but this was not fast enough because I wanted to trade. I ended up buying Bitcoin from eBay just to get started but this can be very hit and miss. I personally like to do business face to face.
I propose a UK Bitcoin swap meet. You turn up and exchange cash for Crypto / goods for Crypto.

Think of it like a LAN party / Car Boot Sale!

People can turn up and trade face to face goods can be purchased immediately (*Conformations willing) for Crypto etc. The site has good 3G signal so a paired laptop is all you need!

There have been a number of users on BTC-e looking to buy but struggling with accounts and exchanges. I am still having these problems now! It would be nice to form a group of users that are willing to do business face to face and cut out the many, many, middlemen and fees associated with exchanges.

I can only see this as a positive for the Crypto community and everyone stands to gain.

I propose to be available every Sunday AM 09:00 – 12:00 I have a good working relationship with a business partner who operates a local Car Boot Sale http://www.eboot.co.uk/ I will be flying the Bitcoin flag so you can find us!

I will be able to supply Computer Hardware to anyone interested for Crypto (You can order in advanced so hardware is available on the day).  Initially I will only be accepting BTC, LTC, BTB Exchange rates will be available on the day from BTC-e / Cryptsy averages.

I would like comments and ideas. I would also like to gauge interest to make this happen. If we can bring people together to trade it will be great. We are in the middle of the country second largest City so lots of potential!

There are a number of UK users on BTC-e thinking of meeting up and also exchanging. If we can put a fixed time and location this could become very interesting. I do not want to own this I just want to see it grow like the rest of the Crypto community (but remember you heard it here first!)

Hey man, not quite the first. A few people have been asking for this, me included. I am based in London and thinking of starting an open air exchange. Could be persuaded to come up to the second largest city if some more joined in.

Beer for Bitcoin! Let's make it happen.

Great we are gathering momentum in the first few hours! Hopefully I can get out of newb status today!

Are you guys looking to buy or sell Crypto or goods?

I am attempting to get some BTC-e heavy weights in so we actually have serious finances to play with!

At the moment I have the following requests:-

Looking to purchase £500.00 BTC cash

Looking to sell Gold sovereign coins, 1 Oz Silver Britannia coins, 1 Oz Silver investment bars, 10 Oz Silver investment bars

Can also sell computer hardware for BTC www.ebuyer.com max first time order £1K BTC, BTB, LTC

I can send full details of items via email and arrange currency exchanges etc. There is a full security team at the Sunday markets so I am confident exchanges will be safe etc.

I now have servers available to rent for Bitcoin as well!

HP Blade Centre with HP MSA SAN. Dual Quad Core Xeon. SSD Hard Drives etc etc. Full iLO access.

Very cheap prices for people interested in setting up a mining pool in UK. No lengthily contracts required.

If I had the time I would set one up myself but don't know the pool info well enough and don't need any further learning curves!

Luci35; Where are you located?

Be careful about organising something like this and particularly be careful about it being for Bitcoin, we still haven't heard much of what the UK governments position is on Bitcoin. Generally though I like the idea! Cheesy

I don't think the Government can actually do anything about it. As far as I am aware we have free trade and for any item to be illegal to trade i.e. firearms, drugs, first they must be defined as illegal.

I am not aware of any UK rulings on Crypto currency defining it let alone making it illegal to trade? Please tell me if I have missed something, I know the scene is moving at a fast pace and I know they are concerned regarding money laundering and tax evasion.

Well this is looking like there is some interest on here and in other areas so I thought it would be an idea to put a facebook page together.

This will enable users to advertise items for sale and items wanted before the Sunday meetings. I have started to put some requests on there. If you are interest then become a friend.

The only thing I remember hearing so far that may be relevant is that any profits made from cryptocurrency related activities are liable for capital gains and income taxes etc. so watch out for the revenue turning up at your car boot sale  Grin

I'll be there.

The last one a couple of weeks ago was great.

This time we have the novelty of buying beer with Bitcoin.

I will bring up the idea of open exchanges and see what people think.

Well a good day last Sunday. Lost of interest in Bitcoin, I have probably explained to over 30 people how to get started with wallets etc.

Going to get a Bitcoin flag made soon so people can find easy.

The salsa sounds good! Might be interested in a trade order so we can sell some on. Does it have any Bitcoin related packaging?

Any other ideas welcome. Anyone interested in meeting up this coming Sunday please let me know.

I have to do a large house clearance for a friend so will be selling lots of junk for Bitcoin! Though I don't expect many to pay with Bitcoin but at least we are spreading the word!

I have never had any issues with Revenue and Customs at any market.

As long as you are not selling pirate goods or porn you will not be bothered. (By Police not Revenue)

At the end of the day it is the individuals responsibility to declare their business. They don't come looking for you unless you are drawing attention.
