Looks like they're going to offer tokens to people who seed files on their platform, kind of like uTorrent but you get crypto rewards.
Definitely looks very interesting. Seen it talked about favorably on reddit as well. Would you invest?

For Sia and Storj you will be needing hardisk space to mine the coin Sparks pays you by seeding your files to them.

I think I loved this one more than Sia. But we should ask the question "are they going to keep their contact with huge businesses?" It is more important than ideals now in cryptocurrencies.

This is definitely better than Sia. Sia is shit imo, it's just not practical if you've ever tried to use it.

Agree, the tech is trivial compared to the elephant in the courtroom: licensing fees and rights management.

Definitely looks interesting. Does anyone know how much has been raised to date? Etherscan never gives me a total value for some reason.

Really great project imo. I'm looking into putting some good ETH in the ICO this week once I get paid, as well as a few other nice ICOs out there.

Upfiring - Incentivized and decentralized file-sharing https://www.upfiring.comLooks like they're going to offer tokens to people who seed files on their platform, kind of like uTorrent but you get crypto rewards. Definitely looks very interesting. Seen it talked about favorably on reddit as well. Would you invest? Hopefully, if this is done well, it would be a huge one for the project. The idea is great, not like it is new as we already have some projects already but not really doing quite much about it. If this can work, then there is a possibility of seeing much more light at the end and it is really not a bad idea to invest in. I remember the days when copy-right issue killed the file hosting industry. I pray that not to happen into blockchain based era too.

I am also wondering this. The ICO just started, but it seems like there's been 60k worth of ETH contributions to the contract so far on Etherscan. They also take other cryptos though so this is likely not the total amount. Still, it's not an absurdly huge amount which is good for investors. Can't be 60k the hardcap is 40k. It's strange they don't have a meter to show how much has been raised. I guess I'll wait for it on etherdelta then.

I see no bounty for forum participants. very sorry. some large ICOs may already have their own community so they do not need advertising to expose their products. if any, i will be first.

Upfiring project is one of a kind and has a lot of potential. The only problem with Upfiring is we dont know the team.

I remember the days when copy-right issue killed the file hosting industry. I pray that not to happen into blockchain based era too. Agreed. It's crazy that with all the blockchain projects out there, nobody's tackled P2P file-sharing successfully yet. Huge potential for this project if they can do it successfully. With all the cracking down on p2p sharing, I also share your surprise that all the past projects trying to solve it have not been successful. But this clearly goes to show that a LOT of projects on crypto and ICOs have wonderful ideas but do not have the devs with correct knowledge to pull it off. People think all they need to do is make a smart contract token and the work is done. But there are truly so few actual blockchain devs who know what they are doing.

The reason P2P file sharing projects are failing is not the tech but the business side of it. Content owners have no lack of bandwidth or storage space, therefore there's no need for them to be interested in P2P unless it lowers their costs substantially while at the same time providing them with the same level of control.

But it seems Upfiring isn't about renting storage space, it's about getting paid in crypto for seeding and file-sharing? You don't see a problem with that? When someone above you just said "cracking down on P2P sharing"? What do you think people are going to share, Linux ISOs?
