Upfiring - Incentivized and decentralized file-sharing https://www.upfiring.comLooks like they're going to offer tokens to people who seed files on their platform, kind of like uTorrent but you get crypto rewards. Definitely looks very interesting. Seen it talked about favorably on reddit as well. Would you invest? Didn't know about this ICO!! Thanks a lot, it looks very interesting! There is also an official ANN thread at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2223828.0Let's hope for a bounty thread also.

The project looks interesting. Still, I cannot decide do I want to invest or not because all those file sharing services are under big pressure and claims from movie and sound labels.

I came across this ICO and was really interested, if done properly it could be hugely successful, the only real issue I have with it is the fact that for 90% of files that are commonly downloaded via utorrent there are plenty of seeds, so for the most part this service isn't really an improvement. Though I guess all seeders could move and then leachers would be forced to pay via tokens.

From what i read, i see some legal issues on the way. This is a bit risky investment.

This seems something like the Datum network.
If Upfiring advertises a bit more tan Datum then i think theny have a fair chance of getting a good amount of market capitilaziton and interest in their project and multiply investor funds many times from the ICO.
It will depend a lot on how well they handle the ICO, though.

I think I loved this one more than Sia. But we should ask the question "are they going to keep their contact with huge businesses?" It is more important than ideals now in cryptocurrencies.
This is definitely better than Sia. Sia is shit imo, it's just not practical if you've ever tried to use it. My god..... Sia is shit??? They are way ahead at least 2 years! Lmao.. "File-Sharing ICO" That's it? Sia has huge updates next month, one of them is regarding File-Sharing. Nothing big here. All hype, All marketing, Just a piece of paper.. No product. Invest wisely

That article is really solid. And yes CarlosCorreia I agree myfranco they could run into legal issues, but uTorrent/bitTorrent seems to be doing fine and its essentially the same thing minus the blockchain/coin aspect. Thanks for your feedback. I'm trying to put Upfiring out there because I think the concept is genious.

Filesharing is always going to tread legal complications, especially now that every country is closing down on IP rights, while torrent sites are also facing more and more difficulty. Advertising and marketing is a double edge sword for them too, you bring attention to your project and risk getting in legal trouble. It starts with the ICO, like you said. If they manage expectations from there, it will bode well for the future of the project. If not... you get angry investors and they rip it up from within.

Exactly. The problem isn't with the incentives and balance between seeders and leechers, it's a pricing problem between content creators and consumers. Maybe there's room for a crypto Spotify or a crypto Netflix combined with crypto publishing, if the content creators dare venture that way.
