Use a hard or paper wallet but most importantly be sensible and safe, don't give out your information to anyone and always ensure that you have backups in case your PC goes kaboom! There are too many stories of people with bitcoins stuck in a busted hard-drive or likewise

activated two step verification is the best thing that we can do to protect our account because today too many attacker that trying to hack people account. so its better we trying many ways to secure the account than we are regret it later if our account getting hacked. the other protection that we can do is by activate sms text code verification too because i think its powerful and its directly connect with our cellphone and the code is sending into our phone so i think it could be another choice to secure our account.

There are so many ways to keep your bitcoin secure and protected. First of all, DO NOT share your private key to anyone nor paste it in search engine, also use a private browser like incognito, be aware also of the url if you are visiting your wallet. Check your url because you might visiting a url made by the hacker for example; MyEtherWallet.com may change to MyEtherWalllet.com and this is one of the ways of the hacker, they change the spelling so be aware of that.

the safest wallet is the offline wallet but there is still a risk that if the pc where you keep the offline wallet is destroyed then you can not do anything

Yeah that's why hardware wallet is the safest yet more secured from anything else. Try ledger nano or trezor, it's quite pricey but at least you're coins are all safe especially when you really have a lot. While using flash drive is also safe but there's a chance that it'll get corrupted.

Yes, its worth to get a trezor or nano to protect your coins from such attack. It's pricey but at least you can sleep well at night because you know that your funds is safe. Of course you need to backup your password and seed and make multiple copies, print or save to usb. We all have the responsibility to protect ourselves because bitcoin is no longer a fad, huge amount of money is being involved everyday that's why hackers are really targeting it.

I think the ledger is the safest choice to keep the BTC offline. Online wallets are not as secure as offline wallets because they can't be hacked directly into your wallet.

If you do not hold much Btc then you can store it in different wallets online itself . If you have a large chunk then store it offline and ensure you note down the details and do not share it with anyone unless you would like to share it with family then it's fine . Just assure that you keep that paper safely in a locked drawer .

i have a question about the safest way to protect you bitcoins sure some will say use safe software wallets but what about hardware i want to buy one and i am still in bit of doubt i honestly thought about Ledger wallet what do you think about it?
I think using wallet hardware is more secure, for the safest is depends on the user itself, if you use ledger you have to keep it well, if your ledger wallet is lost it is your carelessness.

Best way to store your bitcoins/altcoins is Hardwallet of course --> but if you dont have good amount of investment , hardwallet can be expensive for you. Then you can store your private keys with zipping them with a hard password and store them in two different usb and be careful when you need to use your private keys. Exodus can be a good alternative but you need to use its seed keys in a offline place.

Are you saying that if I purchase a Ledger Nano S, plug it into my HP laptop, set the two up use my Samsung S7 phone to buy bitcoin from an ATM, load the code & key onto my Ledger Nano S and then have my HP laptop stolen that all Bit / Altcoin on that PC are just gone?  As I understand it I have to set up a Hot Mobile Wallet to interact with the the ATM scanner and then transfer it to my PC.  Tks

The best way to protect your crypto is hardware wallets like Ledger Nano S or Trezor. It has sence if you have pretty much amount of crypto. If not just use encrypted usb flash drive.
Ledger wallet is hardwallet that the price is too expensive. Free online wallet is also good to protect your bitcoin with you must activated the 2 step verification like trough email, google auth or any authentications. Only this step will make your bitcoin safe free from hacking.

In my opinion, that would be the best option to safeguard your bitcoin, especially if you want to store large quantities. I would recommend you to buy one "Trezor", Ledger Nano S o KeepKey, since the chances to be hacked decrease with it, due to its ability to generate and store private keys even offline as well the recovery of it, unlike software wallets or online wallets where you have high probabilities of losses or thefts and once this happens there is no turning back.

Yes i agree with this , the problem is that most hardware wallets don't support most altcoins.

Maybe its a good thing because if one wallet could be used to store several different altcoins based on different blockchains I honestly think this would turn out to be a vulnerability, that's why specialisation is important if we want to safety. But as far as I know, they don't get any better than the Ledger wallets. get one and tell us your personal experience.

you can protect your bitcoin.
if you ask the "Pros" what is the safest wallet to use.
and always aware of the Phishing  sites
just always check the address bar
if it has a "SSL CERTIFICATE".
proving that the site is not BOGUS

Good question about safety of your bitcoin, your hard earned money. Hackers are working round the clock to breach security.
The hardware is not more important for this purpose.
Your PC/ Laptop/Mobile must be password protected.
Do not allow anyone to use it.
Do not save your password & private key in the computer. Keep them separately in the pen drive. One extra copy of pen drive must be in your locker.
Always use private browsing when working with wallet.
