Wait and see. Russia has been playing these games for three years now. In 2014, the Prosecutor General declared that using Bitcoin was illegal because it was a "money substitute." Nothing happened. Quietly, the government blocked access to Bitcoin websites/exchanges.

Just a couple weeks ago, the Finance Minister called for regulation of cryptocurrencies, saying that banning them made no sense. I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet.

Russian government banning Cryptocurrency means nothing. Bitcoin wasn't meant to be loved by scared poverty/war- loving orligachs. What is important is that most citizens of the World use Bitcoin. The tool to be independent of government is already built in Bitcoin. So why keep wailing like babies when governments "ban" it.

The best way to evade censorship is to continue to decentralize and not Centralize.

However all countries ban bitcoin, bitcoin is decentralized. As long as there are people who want to change their fiat with bitcoin, they still can use localbitcoin. Local bitcoin is peer to peer exchange that not regulate by anyone and any institution or government. The govt who bans bitcoin is idiot because when bitcoin exchange peer to peer they will not earn tax income. The exchange will also uncontrolled. No one can stop bitcoin because it is decentralized.

Exactly bro.  Chinese government banned Bitcoin Few weeks ago  and what happened? Lots of Chinese people moved to Localbitcons and other foreign exchanges. The government became the biggest losers... Probably losing millions in tax revenues.

I think I heard the same new few years back as well, that Russia will ban bitcoin mining and any kind of crypto currency related activities in their soil. But nothing happened after that and everything was normal. Even we have seen a lot of ICO popped up in Russia as well. However, I won't be surprised if they actually do it. Because like China and North Korea, they are also a communist country and don't believe in freedom of people. They want their people to be dependent on their government for everything. But since we have been able to overcome the Chinese shock, Russia's exit will have no or little effect on bitcoin's price. I see not reason to worry!

seems like you were not here when they said they will banning Bitcoin for their citizen,
indeed they did it (if i remember it correctly),
but their citizen have their own way to trade it and to use it off markets.
so basically it's nothing and will have zero impact to the Bitcoin itself.
it's just a move to regulate their exchanger in their country so they can track our assets and our money on it,
after that they will implement the taxes on it.
just like chinese did to their exchanger lately, made a drama about 'banning' but in reality they're only 'stop' it at the moment to regulate it.

im not sure if my opinion would be related to this but i think after china's ban while the value is rising would repeat after this issue with russia even
i already knew that its not the first time that they wanted to stop crypto to exist from their country, maybe it wont be felt that much anymore from
the traders and investors side.

We cant still be sure if wont made any effects on bitcoin or on other crypto coins. Russia is really trying out to do such thing back into previous years just being mentioned above where it was tend to stop bitcoin because on its negative side but still yet they do realize in the end that it is just a nonsense  thing to do. For now if they would repeat the same decision then they will surely the same mistakes again. Cool

I am not a professional trader or whatsoever but I think the main reason behind this is the volume of money that is involved inside the cryptocurrency exchanges.

It seems that cryptocurrency market already surpasses the foreign exchanges in their country and they are now implementing new measures to it before it becomes uncontrollable.

It already happened in China and Bitcoin's price stumbles but it bounces back quickly and now it is about to happen in Russia and I think people are getting used to it and there is no future dropping in price of Bitcoin.

Let's just stay relax as the government of Russia only banning the exchanges of cryptocurrecy and not Bitcoin itself, and the one who said about that is a banker also just like Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan that hates Bitcoin because they are scared about it.

Noone in this world and no country in this world hate Bitcoin or want to block it at the first time. I think the main reason because Russia still can't control Bitcoin in their country to advoid the disavantages of Bitcoin cause it can lead to a lot of crime. Bitcoin transaction is anonymous so it's almost impossible to find out whom made that transaction that why a lot of people still taking advantage of this case to commit crime so ban Bitcoin and block cryptocurrency exchange is the best way for them to stop this case IMO.

The idea of countries like China and Russia banning crypto’s isn’t really what the plan is.  It’s mainly the decentralised nature and lack of state control that they really want.  Like fiat money, governments like to be in control, determine the values and control how we earn it.  IMHO.

Which one? Read through thread without picking up any affected site's name, wtf
BTCe has been related, but not located inside Russia.

Others? GetBTC does BTC/RUB trades, they are meant? That Ukrainian site, Liqui maybe?
There is a smallest one located in europe that offers some payment channels wiring into russia, but they are british.
Honestly cannot find the threatened site, so these threads are without effect.

All and every exchange around the world or only the ones that are not regularized according to US law?
Are you sure this is not fake news or misinterpretation of facts?
