BTC effect on altcoins

I noticed that most times when btc is rallying almost all of the altcoins dip. and when there is a crash in btc all altcoins suffer as well. my interpretation is that for the first alts can't sustain the price against the $ if btc is high. and for the second, everyone is panic selling btc.

What you explain usually happen to altcoins in most cases but the reaction yesterday was a different one entirely. What I saw was a situation where bitcoin appreciate instead of altcoin to increase as usual but the rivers was the case, which indicate that anything can happen in the market at any time.

Bitcoin is the basis of the price of altcoins. And the speed of transition of price BTC affects altcoin marketprice. BTc pump instantly saw the market will not react quick but wait until weeks for the price of altcoin corrected.

While altcoins have different markets than bitcoin both are directly connected to each other, you'll see people are selling alts to buy btc before the next fork , that's a good sign to check the sinergy with each other,

Nice observation, yup when BTC is in the acceleration phase or Bitcoin rally. Altcoin prices are falling down.
But I noticed one thing. ETH price in USD is also souring high during the BTC rally.
So instead of keeping BTC during the Bitcoin rally. I buy it with ETH as it gives me higher profit in USD.

Because altcoins needs bitcoin. If the price of btc down consider your altcoins dump too because in the transactions if you want to convert alts into money you need to convert first in bitcoin even how increase the price of your altcoins but when btc dump expect you altcoins too are in dump price. Amost all coins needs btc to be converted into cash. So, in that situation always consider that alts need btc that's why.

because most if not all altcoin are traded with btc pair, and most invested in altcoin using bitcoin as their base currency.
so yeah, it is somehow related in price movement when there are big news.

Sometimes all coins (or most of the major ones) rise at once. I think it can depend on several factors. If there is some negative news about cryptocurrencies in general, they could all drop, and the opposite for general good news. If Bitcoin and altcoins are moving in the opposite direction, then it's possible that traders are trading one coin for the other based on news or financials or decisions based on charting and target pricing.

yes of course bitcoin affects altcoin price, if bitcoin is expensive then altcoin price will go down and become cheap, but if bitcoin price drops then altcoin price becomes expensive again, this I have monitored for 2 years, if you can take advantage of this cycle then you will get profit.

That's just how the way it is dude. When altcoin is bleeding, bitcoin is gaining for the simple fact that they are selling their altcoin and moving to bitcoin because of the anticipated fork on Oct. 25. Because when the HF happens, you will received free coins. So the more bitcoin you have in your wallet, the more free coins you will received. But once everyone dump the free coins, I'm sure that altcoin traders will go back to altcoin ecosystem and things will be normalized again. You can either go buy altcoins because its slumping or put your money on bitcoin. Its up to you.

I think it's the other way around. At first sight on coinmarketcap i think bitcoin's price rally is correlated to alt coins rally but i am wrong . When bitcoin is rising or falling. Altcoins are suffering from it but it just a normal event, people trade their coins in exchange for bitcoins because the price is rallying. Then if the price is falling altcoin traders will also sell their altcoins to buy bitcoins. But overall, it's still the traders and the holders of altcoins that are responsible on the changes of price in altcoins.

Yeah i believe when BTC stops moving sideways and shows a price action of anything out of the norm, alts dip.
It doesnt matter which direction BTC is moving, up or down, alts would not do well, later on.
Its just FUD for people because they would not know which way bitcoin is moving and whether or not that should cash out or not

I agree. When bitcoin price rallies, people are moved by greed and sell their alts for btc. When it drops, panic drives the alt coins selling. I still have to find an altcoin which is negatively correlated with bitcoin price. At the beginning of the year, I remember Ethereum behave like this, but I think that at this time it was due to the ETH vs BTC competition.

Whatever you stated is completely true because they have got the inverse relation between them. The relation of alts with dollar is however not so close because they don't really rely on that one. The alts will be falling because it's obvious that people are selling them and putting the sold money into bitcoin, and that's why you can see the rise in bitcoin in the current timeline. So for a investor this relation should be well known as he will know the perfect time for bitcoin investment and altcoin investment.

I don't think that Bitcoin Gold is a major factor. Look at Bitcoin Cash. Right now, it is trading at around BTC0.06 per coin. This means that the holders of Bitcoin received an additional 6% bonus on August. But I don't think that Bitcoin Gold will be a success like Bitcoin Cash. BCH had a lot of heavy weights such as Roger Ver supporting it. Bitcoin Gold is lacking such support.

The reason would be quite complicated because both the scenarios oppose each other. Well what i understand and observed from the market is when Bitcoin's price is growing high then the altcoins would get a dip because at that time mostly people invest in BTC by cashing out from the altcoins market. And even when Bitcoin's price falls altcoins suffers too, it is just because all the altcoins are based over Bitcoin which is a face of cryptocurrencies and whole market depends on it.

I agree on this. This might be the best answer about that. Bitcoin is the face and the pioneer and will always be the master driver for all of the alternative coins and of the whole cryptocurrency in terms of the Market Flow and The Price rally of cryptocurrencies. as of now WAVES has a low BTC price , i cannot even sell mine, maybe it is because of what you said. WAVES traders might already sold their WAVES for bitcoins.

That is a good observation and even I noticed it especially after a fork.. Maybe because altcoin has no huge support than bitcoin,, and for it needs to increase its price their must be a continuous pump from groups but that must be simultaneously even a single different timing makes a difference.. Im more on a bitcoin users than the other way around,, that is why I don’t support this force holding by some altcoin..

I believe the traders dump their altcoins to hold Bitcoins so that they can ride the its rally. It is not about price sustainability, it is just dumping one coin for the better coin.

The same reason above. When Bitcoins start to dip, the see it as an opportunity to trade their coins to a better coin.
