Hello all,

Ive been trying to sync my bitcoin client on my mac but have problems as the program takes a reported, 400% of the cpu usage.  My CPU temps skyrocket to 95 C, forcing me to shut it down.  I do not have this problem with the litecoin client.

Any help?

Thanks

Hi Smiley

I'm finding that too with the 8.1 windows version even though 'gen=0' is in the .conf file. This causes the miners to lose half their hashpower.

My only solution so far is to set Bitcoin-qt's cpu affinity to 1 or 2 cores.

The previous versions and other crypto clients do not have this problem....

doesnt the command gen refer to the client trying to mine for coins?  I haven't told it to mine for anthing as of yet.  i set its affinity to 1 core, cpu hovering at 60C, and it still hasnt synchronized.... thanks though!

gen=1 will enable cpu mining and NP. Grin

Have you tried v8.2 ??

I forgot again today.. but will tomorrow. heh..

I miss v7.2. Smiley TXs and sync ups were alot faster and cpu usage was never an issue.

I definitely think this bug should be addressed asap.  Who wants to use a bitcoin client that has the possibility of DAMAGING internal components?  If I let the program continue syncing at a CPU temp of 95C my laptop would fail very quickly.  Getting me kinda mad as I am STILL syncing.... been 3 days...

Laptops generally run at higher temperatures than desktops but you still shouldn't be seeing CPU reaching 95C. If I were you I would clean the laptop and fans from dust and replace the thermal paste.

Signature space available for rent.

You must have a slow connection or bad setup with the .conf file. It shouldn't take that long. heh...

Laptop is in pristine condition.  Just replaced the HD with a SSD, no dust on fans.

Open thumbnail above for proof.  Idk I can try a complete uninstall of the client.
