Tracing a Bitcoin payment

A year or so ago after buying some Bitcoin on Paxful I realized that the Bitcoin address that I copy, pasted, and sent was not mine 

The kicker is it was not my fault... well I guess that I can take the blame for not double checking the address before sending it...

Anyways, the way that the wrong Bitcoin address ended up being where my Bitcoin address was suppose to be was strange

I clearly copied and pasted my Bitcoin address

I then went to Notepad and pasted the address as the mysterious address

I did this multiple times I cleared all my browsing history, cache, cookies, etc. which finally ended up fixing the issue

But I still am curious to this day what the hell type of worm virus they did... it's fucking genius... LOL

Oh, and I still want them to send back my fucking coins 

Anyone ever heard of something like this or know what it's called?

Thats Trojan virus. If you copy bitcoin address then it will changed to another address. I got this virus last week and i always do double checking before send it. This some information about that virus https://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2016-020216-4204-99

I have read some people complaining and became a victim of that virus. As cissrawk mentioned it is a trojan virus, not really I knew about that since virus is the only term I'm using for that malware. And for claiming back your coins, it is not possible now since bitcoin transactions aren't reversible and as you even mentioned that it's already a year ago those coins of yours are possibly been sold.

Its been a year since you lost your BTC even if this had happened yesterday, I doubt you could have done anything about it so I don't think there is any hope for your Bitcoin the robber would have traded them right away stay safe next time, how do you think that virus got into your pc?

I have no clue how I got it... I think I either got it from Paxful, an online casino review site, or an actual casino site

Sorry for your lost mate, and yes if that was happened yesterday, you can trace the transaction made but it is hard as hard  , so if that was year ago, it is very impossible then to happen because virus is hard to be found out, those controlers were as* holes on that kind of trick. So better burry that money and left it to the wind and never returm it to your mind because it will just feel you the most regretful moment you had.
That is why crime and robbery love bitcoin because they cannot be detected
