Do ATI/AMD have an interest in bitcoin? I stopped buying ati cards a long time ago as their drivers were just bad. Their sales must of gone up sooooo much with bitcoin.
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I suspect that in the months to come there will be hardware that is designed specifically for mining bitcoins which will give the current market hash rate a big boost. Optimization of hardware and software from the ground up will be the piece of the puzzle that will grow this market.

Keep an eye out for new technology to add to the bitcoin/namecoin network.
