Hello guys,
I hope you are doing well.

I'd like to have your opinion in what's happening with bitcoin recently, especially with those useless (in my mind) hardfork. The point of view that I have today is really negative. I know I lack of precise and technical knowledge, and I would love to have more precision points, from expert or at least from "those who know"...

The feeling that I have currently, is that the bitcoin hardforks are harmful, and clearly not trying to fix anything...
At this rate, we'll have hardforks every months...

What is the point of increasing of 1Mo the size of a block, when you know that in some decades, there will be Billions of people using blockchain technology ? Why only 1Mo ? It's not called "hardfork" for nothing. It's doing something really hard to the blockchain, so at least, increase the block drasticly, to avoid having to do a hardfork 2 months later...
It feels like those hardfork are only there for the money, for those whales...

Ethereum knows how to do hardfork whithout splitting the coin... Why bitcoin should split everytime ? It's completely against crypto/blockchain vision, because every hardfork of bitcoin, will detroy the altcoins, because everybody will want to have his free Bitcoin"Old". So everybody is going to sell their altcoins at each split, to earn a maximum of BTC... and it's dumping the system everytime...
Ethereum found a solution with Metropolis to enhance its coin without splitting. Why BTC can't ? Only for the whales and the money ?
I really don't understand, and I would love to have more accurate explaination than my bored and angry thought Cheesy

Will bitcoin do hardfork every months ? What's the point if it's only for little and tiny modifications ? I'm so far away of the technical and complex understanding than I might miss the logical reasons... I need your help Smiley

I'm not a supporter of such forks in the road too. But many people enjoy opportunities to get free coins. We will continually witness the forks until the bitcoin will not be centralized. It is similar with business. Very often some friends, organize a business but due to the fact that everyone has their own opinion then there is the business section.

Bitcoin is desgined a little different than eth so it cant just do a fork like they would plus these forks are to better bitcoin and get the community or miners to decide the outcome of bitcoin

Yeah, these forks doesn't fix anything, but the people behind these forks try hard to mask their personal gain agenda, by portraying that they are trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist, a hypothetical problem. With Bitcoin Cash it was the increased blocksize. With Bitcoin Gold, it's asic resistant algo to completely decentralize the mining process. Is GPU mining going to be less centralized than the current Bitcoin mining? No.

So in short, these forks are just trying to create money out of thin air, free money and hoping being a Bitcoin fork or marketing it as another Bitcoin they would be able to create a psychological impact on the market to ensure their altcoin gets instant valuation in a competitive crypto market.

You are exactly right. If this kind of fork does not happen means, we will not see this kind of huge increment in bitcoin price. And whenever the fork happens the price is stabilising at a high price. So this is good for us. So you don't like this kind of fork but i like this i will get the opportunity to make some money.

I'd like to have your opinion in what's happening with bitcoin recently,
nothing is happening to "bitcoin".
and since you are talking about forks it is not new that you call it recently. for years people have been forking bitcoin LOL. you just missed it mostly because they never advertised properly and also because they never used the blockchain too.

especially with those useless (in my mind) hardfork.
...hence the term "shitcoin". but i call them experiments and also free money to buy even more bitcoin with.

the only reason why they planted the bomb inside their code and now they are trying to fork is to earn more free money.
- premine 70+ million coins
- fork to PoS
- Stake
- rich gets richer or free money....

You cant stop others to do it, so no need to fight it. Also I dont understand how it can be considered harmfull at all, for example if you dont find the upcoming Bitcoin Gold this month usefull, just ignore it or sell it - simple.

Why are you worrying for these types of forks. Just enjoy it. You are going to get free coins. So basically you need to be more happy. Don't get irritated for this types of forks. Everyone has the right to create  altcoins of their choice. They actually want their coin to take the place of bitcoin, which is not going to happen any time soon. Just remember one thing. Keep your bitcoins in secured desktop wallet. That's it.

What i know. The hard fork is to further improve the bitcoins it has made to part and have back up the bitcoins. And as it is done we will also have free coins that 1: 1 will give you I mean some of the content of your bitcoins during hardfork is that you can also receive coins that make up the hardfork.

Majority of us do not understand what the hard fork  and soft fork actually means. my humble advice  is for anyone that is confuse to go into research why bitcoin need to be forked instead of baseless criticism.

Maybe you think it's useless cause the amount of Bitcoin you have is little so amount of free coin you got after the hard fork is little too Smiley)). I think hard fork is not bad as some people think about it. After the hard fork everyone whom have Bitcoin will received a new coin with the same amount of BTC they have and the price of this new coin is not bad. Beside after the hard fork I think it'll make the price of Bitcoin increased so why there are a lot of people don't like it?

firstly the only reason 2mb was chosen is because core devs declined any other amount such as 16mb, 8mb, 4mb.. so 2mb was compromised in the hopes the core devs would finally agree and stop blockading growth.

..
but now even with just 2mb the core devs are still blockading growth. yep core devs are the ones causing the controversy by literally writing in code to ban nodes that are not core. banning nodes that dont fit the blockstream roadmap of turning bitcoin into a blockstream elements altcoin.

yep blockstream devs have done all they can to avoid using consensus to sort these matters out and instead gone for the human/social governance model of a dictatorship.

just look how fast the blockstream devs closed off any chance of core being part of upgrading the blocksize.. under 24 hours
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/11128 - closd by blockstream employee sipa on the same day it was opened.. yep not allowing community to decide..

but hey, bitcoin will drop being used by merchants. and become just some reserve currency no one can spend directly onchain but have to hand over into a smart contract of counterparty control.. yep LN is cheap to transact but like banks/paypal needs a stranger to sign off/agree to your spending decisions.

oh, and blockstream want to bloat up onchain transactions with Confidential payment codes and other stuff.. while also removing the security of validation by pruning. making the blockchain just junk data that cant be validated and expensive to transact on.... (facepalm)

but again hey. no one cares about the real utility of bitcoin, the ethos and need of its original invention. all they care about is the ponzi element of buy cheap from one person and sell expensive to the next and then run back to fiat.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

It's frustrating as it causes further instability to a already unstable currency and it's the developers which are causing this through being selfish.

It may look like useless to you but the brain behind this hardforks knows what they are doing, in fact people take advantages on this hardfork apart from a new altcoin that will be created which serves as additional coin the price of bitcoin also reacts to the fundamentals of hardfork presently the price had hit $5300+ due to the upcoming hardfork compared to few weeks a go when the price was $4100.

They're not useless. Whether you agree with the changes being proposed (by way of fork) or not, these attempts are not useless.

This is part of the maturing process for Bitcoin and blockchain technology and crypto-currencies as a whole. As adoption scales the solution needs to as well to accommodate greater use. There are multiple opinions on how to scale and that's the result of these forks.

The end result is either 1) Bitcoin surviving the attacks and maturing beyond them or 2) One of the new blockchains gaining popularity and carrying the torch that Bitcoin started with.

Either way, whatever the outcome, it's a good thing for Bitcoin.
