as i said im new and looking to do investing for growth. im not asking what cryptocurrency is gonna go through the roof the next few weeks or months cause i don't think anyone knows for sure.  im asking where i should start my research and what to look for in a new but promising cryptocurrency. where do i find the newest ones? on average how many new ones fail, how many kinda grow, and how many sky rocket? im new so any tips from people who have had success with this would be appreciated.

once you have cryptocurrency how do you turn it back into USD or spend it?

For trading I use Kraken, because you can easily cash out FIAT into your bank account.

I'm also kraken user and never had any issue with them.

As of spending BTCs you can buy lot of stuff here just check the marketplace section https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=51.0
But be careful and always use escrow because there is lot of scamers.

Go through the top 100 cryptocurrencies on https://coinmarketcap.com/ and research on most of them, or all, depending on how much time and effort you're willing to spend. Make sure to take your time on this. Remember, investing involves money. You wouldn't want to lose it.

You can read on the new cryptocurrencies on the Announcements (Altcoins) forum, link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0

How many fail? A lot.
How many grow? It depends. In terms of functionality in general or in price?
How many sky rocket? If you see a certain cryptocurrency being shilled/hyped alot, chances are it's gonna rise. But that doesn't mean it's going to be a successful project.

I suggest soaking up as much info as you can.  A few resources I use is the Blockchain app on android or iphone.  You can add your holdings, and they have a useful news feature that provides alternative news from those on Reddit.  I built a multireddit for this exact purpose for the currencies, tokens and companies I believe have value, and can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/user/P3rplex/m/digitalcurrency/

As for how to turn the currencies back into USD, I would suggest making a Coinbase account and linking it up to your bank account.  Doing this in advance, as it can take some time, will make everything fairly painless, and as more time goes on, IMO that it will only get easier.

As mentioned, kraken is the way to go to withdraw your funds.

If it comes to trading, I prefer bittrex, because it's website is faster and there are much more coins to trade.

Use poloniex if you are going to trade, you can convert your btc to usdt and the proccess is always the same, exchange it for other currencies or just sell it for your local money.e
If you want to know a little about near pumps or dumps just take a look at the altcoin section of the forum, you will find a lot of tips and news about cryptos, and a lot of information too.

ICO project CRYOGEN will begin on October 17, 2017
Valeria Pride about the project "CryoGen"
https://youtu.be/LJLixbEvh_g
Origins and development of CryoGen

In 2014, the management of KrioRus, at the invitation of the Government of Switzerland, visited six cantons and presented its project to open the first cryocenter in this progressive country with the aim of incorporating the company CryoGen under Swiss jurisdiction.
The Ministry of Economy of the three cantons became interested in the possibility of building a cryocenter in Switzerland and offered mutually beneficial terms of cooperation.

Today, we enter the last stage of coordination, the creation of a European cryonics provider headquartered in Switzerland, vital to the development of cryonics in Europe, along with DNA preservation, organ cryobanking,  inauguration of a genetic archive, and more.
In Switzerland we are joined by many like-minded people and colleagues. We thoroughly studied the commercial real estate market in Switzerland and expect to acquire the best price and quality location for a cryonics center.  Indeed, a decommissioned military bases in the Alps has come onto the market.

We own several small cryonics storage facilities in Russia, where we have tested the installation and transfer of dewars and cryostats (up to 1.8 tons in weight with no load). In the same locations, we have completely established the entire process of cryonics storage for human and animal cryonics patients and DNA samples.

Throughout Project CryoGen implementation, a multidisciplinary approach is planned, involving cryonics supporters from all over the world, as well as cryobiologists, medics, economists and specialists from many other fields, in order to realize the supranational and truly humanistic values of cryonics in the information society of the near future.

KrioRus is the only company outside of the United States that produces dewars of large volume for the preservation of patients' bodies. In this we take pride. serves  For the preservation and storage of small animals industrial dewars will sufice, but for the preservation of the human body it is necessary to use exclusively special design dewars that are produced only in the US and in our country: our own Dewar series Anabiosis.
We have representative offices in New York City, USA, In Mirandola, Italy, and in St. Petersburg, Russia,  with arrangements with funerary service providers in Riga (Latvia), London (UK), Kiev (Ukraine ), Chelyabinsk, Izhevsk, doctors and hospitals in Minsk (Republic of Belarus), Volgograd, Samara and other cities, for support in organization, transportation, cryostabilization  and cryonization.

We have mastered and practice all cryonics technologies. Cryonicists from around the world flock to Moscow in order to come and study at KrioRus. There are 54 cryonics patients and 21 preserved animals in cryonics storage at KrioRus. To date, more than 400 contracts have been concluded for the future cryopreservation of humans and animals.

KrioRus is the only cryonics provider in Europe and Asia that has its own cryonics storage for conservation and long-term storage of cryonics patients, with specialized scientific laboratories and qualified staff. Project details here http://cryogen.me/

coinmarketcap is also a goodsite for price on any other altcoins in the market. You can also view tokens and what platform they are using. Bittrex for trading but you have to verfiy account if ever you need to withdraw your funds. And other infos are here in the forum. Just read around the forum and you can read even the unwritten rules that the forum observes for traders.

Hello and welcome to bitcointalk.

Coinmarketcap is a good place to start, new coins might not be listed there.

Another good place will be the “Announcements (Altcoins)”. You are able to read about the coins and ask questions.

Lastly you can join the projects’ social media channels to be updated about the projects’ progress.

You can use Bitcoin ATMs to cash out but some charge like 10%.

You can spend it with different crypto cards like TenX and Monaco

You use coinbase and localbitcoin to cover bitcoin to fiat. Alternatively, you can use crypto debit card.

Personally I used and I am a user of kraken, and many people from this forum will definitely recommend you this way because of the easy way out of FIAT when you want.

The first thing I would do is research and sit through expert advice on a daily bases. A good place to find the kind of information that you're looking for is at DataDash who is located here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCatR7nWbYrkVXdxXb4cGXw

I currently watch his videos to get a better understanding of what is currently available and what alt coins are trending and why they are trending. Even though I do a lot of my own research DataDash will perform most of my research and make my findings a lot sharper. I really do recommend you give him a try.
