The violence of Spanish government towards the Catalonians was insane. No denying. But I'm really stuck at the announcement of the Catalonian president. Is it just a temporary stopover or will Catalonia remain a part of Spain?

Well what's happen there was a pure shame, nobody want to see that images again on a democratic country, that's for sure, btw nobody know at the moment what will happen, things are really tense and worst part is to see all those big companies leaving catalonia, in the end what will suffer it are citizens who are not to blame for anything.

Catalonia refused all ultimatums, so we are waiting for either a tough conflict or the adoption of independence, the third is not given.

Why should Catalonia heed to the ultimatums issued by the Spanish government? Catalans are a different people and their language and culture is different from that of the Spanish. The Spaniards have been trying hard for many centuries to forcibly impose their culture on the minority people (Catalans, Basque, Galicians, Extramadurans, Aragonese.etc). This ethnicide needs to stop.

There might be many thing affecting the relations between Spain and Catalonia. There might be pride, greed or anger.
But there two civilized places should settle the issue in a civilized way, whether it be creation of new state or not.

The Spanish government is committing political suicide here. They need to remember that they can't violently suppress the voice of close to 10 million people. The Basque region is already having a decades-long insurgency problem. Now the next is going to be Catalonia. And this time, it is going to be even more violent that that in the Basque region.
