For some reason, I thought they were opening Sunday afternoon -- you know, when I get HOME from church.

No, it's actually 10:00 AM (CDT), right as Mass is beginning.

I know I'm not the only Bitcoin user who goes to church. I sincerely hope not!

Now trading is always going on while I'm gone to church, shopping, etc. and that's nothing new.
But a re-start of trading on Mt. Gox, which has been down for A WEEK, might provide unique opportunities that I might miss.

Why did they have to pick such a time? I still think they should have been ready by 12 hours after their original plan (namely, RIGHT NOW)

They aren't even going to be open a couple hours before 10:00, so I could get in a few orders before I leave. No, I have to just miss out.

Oh well. Maybe it will prevent me from selling at $18, and I'll get home and get to sell at $25 or something Smiley

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I never really took the average Bitcoiner as a churchgoing chap, anywho.

I'd like to think we're all critically-minded rationalists who hold observable above the supernatural, but I have a suspicion that is not so.

I did think of one solution -- post an open order (or 5) on Tradehill.

If BTC is up to $22 on the Mount, it will certainly be at least $20 on the Hill.
If it's down to $5 on the Mount, it will probably be pretty close by (maybe $8) on the old Hill.

The exchanges have to follow each other -- if they don't, you have arbitrage opportunities which will end up bringing them in line together.

Luckily I am a firm follower of the FSM, who lets me delay my noodle appendage touching for later hours if something comes up.

That MtGox is the Devil? OooOh

No.

I'm just saying it's yet another way I've been GOXED in the last week.
"GOX 10: The Final Goxing"

I was here for all the false openings, and now I'll miss the real one.

I just wanted to note it publicly -- no one else seems to have noticed yet.

Like I said, I have a solution that will cover things most of the way. I was just hoping to be part of the "excitement", that's all.

dont worry, i'm sure god will toss in an extra couple crowns or virgins or something after your dead to thank you for your sacrifice. see, in the long run you're the lucky one! then again, if satoshi/bitcoin really is the second coming then maybe god will be pissed that you went off to sing songs when you could have been spending time in the presence of the almighty..

I'd also like to throw in that Japan is like 14 hours ahead of Central time, so the real enemy of churches is the time zones and the fact that the earth rotates. I don't remember much from the bible, but didn't it say God created this earth, and so created this whole time zone fiasco? So really, the enemy of church is God himself. This God guy sounds like a real bastard, playing tricks like that on you.

Get over it.

Twice it's opening has been the middle of the night for me, once when I was journeying from work.

It's always inconvenient for someone in some timezone. This time it's you.
