Of course, before the new fork on October 25, you can move without any restrictions. However, if you want to have a new free Bitcoin Gold coin after this fork, then you need to keep bitcoin in your purse.

you can move your bitcoin anytime you want. bitcoin network has been working and will continue to work at all times.

Quote

you do NOT lose your bitcoin if you move your bitcoin.

replay attack means the transaction you make on bitcoin network will also be valid on the other (fork) chain too. so it can be mined there too.

imagine you are making a payment to 1BtcAddress... you obviously don't control the private key to 1BtcAddress and you are making a bitcoin payment. that goes one fine without any issues. but the same payment will happen on the forked chain and you also pay bitcoin_forked to 1BtcAddress... on the forked chain. but since you don't control the key to that address, your bitcoin_forked coins are practically lost.

remember this works the other way around too. meaning if you claim your bitcoin_forked coins, the transaction you make on the forked chain is also valid on bitcoin network so you get the bitcoin_forked coins and lose bitcoin!

that is why these chains have to implement a strong two way replay protection or if they don't you have to first split your coins then make a transaction.

Yes, I'd like to know too. My bitcoins are in the wallet Exodus. Is it safe to just store them there or do I have to move them somewhere else since I think Exodus is a signatory of the New York Agreement...?

Where is your bitcoin?

Some exchanges will halt trading immediately before (like an hour) the fork is scheduled to occur and won't return access to transactions until they know it is safe to do so. This could be an hour or it could be a day. So keep that in mind if you leave your bitcoin with an exchange. It may be frozen for a short time after the fork.

You are a legendary forum member and you are asking ,i would say,a "newbie" question?Wow,this is strange.
The most important question here is which wallets and exchange platforms will support the forked altcoin called "Bitcoin Gold".I remember that during the previous forks some exchange platforms were limiting deposits and withdrawals. This might happen again.

i'm just asking which is the time windows where our coins are safe like with bitcoin cash it was advised to not move anything while we were near the fork date

I think if you store your bitcoin in trusted wallet like coinbase, blockchain, coins.ph and other our fund will be safe also based on some statement of other users we can keep it into our wallet. If you are using exchange site much better to move it into your wallet to make it safe.
Here in my country which is coins.ph is our local bitcoin wallet they only support bitcoin and does not want to add other coins and their statement that during and after the fork our fund will safe that is why all my countrymen are not affraid on the incoming fork.

first you need to wait and see if they are going to implement a strong 2 way replay protection or not.
- if they do, it is not necessary but it is highly recommended.
- if they do not, you must split your coins first and then use the keys.

it is always safer to move your bitcoin first and then import the private keys in the new wallet software. you never know what malicious things or even simply bugs are in these wallets. they are not exactly tested or reviewed specially in if you are doing it in the early days.

I think second time there will be no good profit from this fork. Only one time you can earn good money.

It is safe to move your coins before the fork however make it sure your bitcoins are secured by storing them on a cold storage like paper wallet or any other remedy just to secure for the upcoming bitcoin fork in November for the Gold, don't worry about the replay attack as it plans to implement strong replay protection against the attackers.

People just do not panic. Nothing wrong will happen. Keep your Bitcoins as usually.
I keep the in blockchain.info and some at Bittrex wallet.
... and that's fine. Relax.
Every new "forked coin" will be worth less than Bitcoin Cash. I just suppose so.
Competition is good but excessity turn "things" into lower end of the market....

Of course new fork is being happened on 25th october, If your bitcoins are not in safe wallet, you can move them to a secure web wallet.
Moving your bitcoin to any offline walletor exchanges like bittrex, poloniex is not recommended because this way you can't get bitcoin gold.
Forked currency is only attributed to those who keep their bitcoins online. If you don't want BCG, then better to move offline.

therefore i need to move two times my bitcoin to claim first the cash fork, and then the gold fork, that is a pain in the ass to do

The answer OP is looking for might be if replay protection is included in both forks. On Bitcoin Gold, I do not know but I heard it will not have replay protection. On Segwit2x/btc1, there is no replay protection.

But there will be clever developers who will code a tool to "split" your coins and have them safe in your wallets in all three chains.

You are a legendary rank member which in my opinion, you were around during the last fork exercise except otherwise. You don't need to bother yourself about understanding replay or technicality surrounding it. Because even if you do understand it, you can neither do to stop it or make it better. I just have the strong believe that how to go about it will surface by people who have more knowledge about it and have the authority to do same.

it is too soon to say, neither of these are released yet. there may or may not be a strong 2 way replay protection in either of them.
- there is A replay protection in SegWit2x (one way and also opt-in) for now. it is that multi sig address thingy Wink
- there currently is no replay protection for bitcoin gold. but there is an open PR in their repo talking about it. and in their latest statement they said they are working on it.

Both those forks are reluctant to include replay protection because it will be openly admitting that their fork is the altcoin. But what choice do they have? In Jeff Garzik's case, he wants a hard fork but he still wants to retain the name and the brand "Bitcoin"? It will take more than the miners and the NYA signatories to do that because they do not represent the community.

The best thing to do in my opinion is to just pretend this is not happening. Do what you have always done. If there is a bonus with BTG - then great. The energy used is a waste of time because in reality no one knows.

That is easy for you to say as long as the price of Bitcoin is always going up, right? You have your choice but it is people like you that should start being involved and have your voice heard.

If you want to pretend that nothing is happening then why are you in the forum?

While the hard fork day is near, put it on the wallet that holds your private keys. So you do not have to worry about what happens to your btc hold. You can also receive free btg or bitcoin gold. On the day of forking it is still just a bitcoins now because BTG distribution is 1: 1 meaning how many bitcoins you hold is that the BTG you get

Actually, Already I moved my Bitcoin. I kept my Bitcoin on Bittrex wallet. Becuase Bittrex supports Hardfork. At the last Hardfork I kept my Bitcoin on Bittrex wallet and I got BCC on Bittrex account. That's why I move my Bitcoin on Bittrex wallet.

Then all the transaction will be slower and fees will be increased like last time right! I expect the segwit activation should be taken happen nearing to the hard fork like 18th or 20th of November.
If segwit has been activated bitcoin transaction blocks will be increased then fees will be decreased compared with the fiat currency value.

Before fork everything will be just normal and there isn't any problem to move your funds where ever you want. But after fork there is probability of replay attack because your transactions will be valid on both chains but you can take the safe path by using the hardware wallets like trezor which are somehow save from these replay attacks.

Safest way to approach this would be:
- wait for the fork to finish (day or two)
- move your bitcoins to the new address.
- import the private key into the new 2x/gold wallet.
- send/spend new 2x/gold coins.

With this you should be on the safe side.

Why should i move Bitcoin?? And anyone knows which exchange will give bitcoin gold in this bitcoin fork??

because you need to claim your bitcoin gold fork and to do this you need to move first your bitcoin to avoid lose them, then you dump the private key and take your forked bitcoin

In the maddening rush to claim the free bitcoingold coins and in all we do, let us remember what happened with the dude who told his story here of how he lost 45.8 btc in the last fork of August 1. He wrongly moved his fucking 45.8 bitcoins and they disappeared into thin air! The story is found here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2059967.0

I think. The surest way is to put your bitcoin in your wallet and don't move it. There are more bitcoins and more chips. Friend

Yes, the guy went to the spoof site -- eletrum-wallet.com to split his BTC and Bitcoin Gold and once he entered his private

key there, his coins was stolen. This can happen to everyone, if you are in a hurry to get your new Bitcoin Gold too. Make

sure you use the correct site, when you do this and also for the wallet sites for Bitcoin Gold.  Roll Eyes ..... There will be a lot of

confusion and greed during this split and criminals will exploit this.  Angry

Usually this is the case. And just like the recent fork the exchange where my coins are they advised not to make any transactions during a specific span of time until they told us to do so just to be safe. This upcoming fork, I think coins.ph will also do the same. They don't support any hardforks though, just like bch but then they spread news that they are taking consideration and studying what best to do with it. Then after a month they decided to just give everyone the equivalent of bch in btc who has btc in their wallets during the fork. So what they did is converted bch value into btc value then deducted all fees incurred.

But the point is, you never give your private keys to anyone - that's the same as giving them all your money. No reputable site would ask for your private keys so it's an immediate red flag.

I recommend that you keep your bitcoin in your private wallet during the fork, before and after you can make transactions. if you are leaving your btc in an exchange you should inform about how they will act during the fork and take precautions will not happen to you like the users of coinbase that did not get Bccash during the first fork.

There is nothing wrong in moving your coins before the fork, but after the fork it is advisable to wait for a couple of days until everything is fine because replay attack is possible in both the chain ,bitcoin gold fork has replay protection but that wont be the case with segwit2x .The first fork on 25th October is bitcoin gold and wait for a few days before moving your coins, make sure you move your coins to another wallet before trying to transfer the new forked coin for better safety.

For me, security is Paramount here. Also, you need to check with your current bitcoin wallet (that has been favouring you) to know if it will be supporting the forthcoming fork. If no, please, stick with your  wallet and hold on to the bitcoin you have dearly because a lot of scammers are searching earnestly to use this as a means to steal people's hard earned bitcoins. But you can make findings of a trusted bitcoin wallet to transfer your bitcoins to; I will also advise you do in a small bit too. In all, be careful not to lose all your bitcoins in a bid to get the bitcoin gold, so you don't end up being F**KED.

Since I live my coins in the blockchain.info wallet at last hardfork and I was giving free bitcoin I will do the same again this time around to also get free coins. Bitcoin network will ever remain and no matter the hardfork in blockchain network bitcoin is going to remain strong and notting is going to  affect it. I do believe that the hardfork make us stronger than were we are before it just like what happened last time. I will also advise those weak mind to remove there coins from exchangers and keep them in offline wallet.

why you move it ,, it does not need to be done, everything will be fine. november forks will have a positive impact on bitcoin .. so you don't have to move your bitcoin. all will be safe, and bitcoin prices will soar.

There's no use in moving your coins because the fork will not do anything on it like what happen in bitcoin cash keeping your bitcoin in your wallet will not harm them in fact the last time I was able to receieve equivalent amount in bitcoin cash after keeping some bitcoin in my present wallet.

I don't think we are restricted of moving our coins before the fork happens however once fork is here then for sure we are not allowed to move them because of the fork thats happening. Why would you mive your coins anyway if it is secured in a wallet right?

Yes i also expect so that even keeping our bitcoin in wallet will not effect our bitcoin, as some people are still confuse about not to lose their bitcoin if they are in exchange wallet, but hopefully nothing such thing is going to happen. I am sure that just like previous time as we were awarded with bitcoin cash, now we are also expecting to get bitcoin Gold, which will also be trading in a good value.

The fork on august have some restriction on transfering and moving bitcoin. They gave a time span in where you cannot move your bitcoin or move your bitcoin in your wallet as they are updating the codes of it. Maybe that's what the OP want to ask as the last fork was having some restriction on moving your bitcoin.

Yes you move your coins before and after the hardfork happens. It is just that you need to keep bitcoins in your wallet on the day of hardfork thats it and you will have new coins with you.

personally, if i want to move my bitcoin, i will do it right now because i don't know what will happen to my bitcoin although i know it will be safe but i think its better to now. we don't want our bitcoin to not be safe so we need to secure it by our own way but if we can do now, then we should do as fast as we can. its not related with the new fork or not, but we take responsibility to our bitcoin and if we are afraid with the fork, then we should move before the fork is happen and we are safe.

Yes, you can move it and the best wallet for it is through electrum. There are some supported wallets that are indicated in the btcgpu.org but they are now being DDOS attacked.

and after?

Just keep it there and wait for the hard fork to finish.

how it work exactly do we risk to lose our coins because of replay attack? from 25 october to 1 novemeber there will be this new fork i want to know thnaks

There's no risk on it and it's totally a free coin so while you are just watching or waiting for the hard fork to be done make sure that the wallet you will be keeping your bitcoins, you have the private keys for exporting / importing purposes.

It is possible. You can move bitcoin before the fork. No one is sure how bitcoin will react about the upcoming fork on October 25. You can move it to a secure location of you can gamble and maintain it on your wallet. I hear that you will obtain bitcoin gold if you do maintain your bitcoin on your wallet. I certainly hope that bitcoin will increase in value but even if its value goes down on the upcoming fork I will buy even more bitcoin because It means that I can buy many if its value goes down. If its value went up its okay too because I can sell it for a higher price.

Yes you have all rights on your bitcoin you can move it whenever you want. Market impact doesn't matter. I suggest you to keep your bitcoin until the fork finish also there's no chance to for risk,  its free coins Bitcoin gold which you will get, if you keep bitcoin in your wallet.

Probably users who have been holding a large volume of bitcoin feels lucky to get the best of btc. This time it is bitcoin gold, which is gonna get listed to the altcoins section, same as that we got bitcoin cash from the main chain and holding certain volume of bitcoin.

I recommend that you keep your bitcoin in your private wallet during the fork. If you are leaving your btc in an exchange they should inform you about how they will act during the fork. Take precautions so you don't end up like the users of coinbase that did not get bcc during the first fork.

can we move our bitcoin before the new fork happen? and after? how it work exactly do we risk to lose our coins because of replay attack? from 25 october to 1 novemeber there will be this new fork i want to know thnaks
You have all rights to move your bitcoins. Of course you can move your bitcoin anytime anywhere. There's no limit for bitcoins.  About the fork it will not stay forever we all are ready to face it. It will end one day but remember if you do not move your bitcoin from the wallet, you can get free Bitcoin gold coin. So I think wise people are not cashing out bitcoins. They are buying more to gather more bitcoins so when fork happens they will be able to gather more free Swegit2 Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin gold coin was based on a snapshot two months ago and you can still get the coins even if you have since sold all your BTC coins
based on your balance on the day of the fork so i would expect that the revised Segwit2x fork taking place tomorrow to be just the same.

"Wise" people will not put up with slow speeds and mega high transactions fees regardless of the perks they receive along the
way and trust with the greedy miners has been broken so i suspect a lot of people will start voting with there feet myself.

Mining is CPU-wars and Intel, AMD like it nearly as much as big oil likes miners wasting electricity. Is this what mankind has come too.
