Hi All!
I'm relatively new to bitcoin but am totally fascinated with all things BTC. I work in the finance industry and as part of my job I assist with the creation of white papers on a variety of topics. Just today I had the idea of writing a white paper on bitcoin, giving a broad overview of what it is, how it has the potential to revolutionize the marketplace, and what hurdles it needs to overcome. I've searched around the internet and haven't been able to find something that is both broadly encompassing, sophisticated and sufficiently detailed while still being relatively easy to comprehend by people who aren't technically inclined.
I'm planning on getting started this weekend and will be doing a lot of research to make sure that my paper is both accurate and as complete as possible. What I am hoping for are members of this community who would be willing to help me by answering questions, especially about the more technical details. I'm fairly competent in that regard but will be the first to admit that my CS knowledge is pretty limited compared to a great number of members on these boards.
As far as pay goes I'm willing to tip you for your time if you require. Since I wont be making any money off this and will be using it purely to spread to word of bitcoin I am hoping to get one or two volunteers to help me out for free! Its really about getting sophisticated investors and members of the financial community who don't know much about bitcoin to learn about it in an easy to digest format, all with the goal of advancing bitcoin.
I promise that I will be doing the majority of the heavy lifting in terms of research and writing by myself (unless someone wants to volunteer to co-author the paper with me) and will only be utilizing your efforts for questions that I cant find enough information on or really just cant understand even after sufficient research.
Anyway, feel free to post here or PM me if you're willing to help. Looking forward to hearing from you!

I've been here for a little while and I'm still learning Good luck getting it all down in a weekend. I remember there was a post similar to this one no more than a week ago, I'm about to leave, but I'll try hunting it down when I get back. There might be some useful information in it for you. If you have any questions, I'll help as best I can

Thanks! Any and all help is appreciated. I've been following bitcoin for longer than I've been on here, luckily their are a lot of resources out there and I'm a pretty fast learner. I'm thinking of posting a draft on here early next week to try and get some advice/criticism hopefully people will be a little bit more responsive to that.

Thanks everyone for your help so far. This has proven to be a much bigger undertaking than I had anticipated. I am currently struggling to find the right balance of technical versus financial discussion. I'm not trying to make this a technical paper as those already exist in more detail and with better accuracy than i could hope to achieve. However, the more economic and financial issues I discuss the more technical items I need to bring up to tie them together.
Hoping to have a working draft ready late next week, would anyone have any interest and reading it and giving me your 2 satoshis?

Truer words were never spoken. Look on the bright side: at least you've not started Kludge bank or Ian Bakewell financial operations.

Surely, if Stephen Hawkins could explain the universe in layman's terms, you can follow his example and do the same with your white paper. I'm sure you'll have it easier, assuming you're not paralyzed from the neck down.

Ok so after the paper only taking 2 weeks longer than my original estimate (damn you life, always getting in the way!) I have a 3500 word working draft! I am sending it to a few co-workers and friends today to judge how it reads for the non-bitcoin savvy reader (also to check for things like spelling and grammar). I am hoping to have something back later this weekend and would love to have additional critics, especially those with more knowledge about bitcoin than I.
So I am renewing my call for assistance with this project. For those who already offered their help on the forum or through PM I appreciate it and I will be reaching out shortly. For anyone else who would like to contribute please post or PM the best way for me to contact you and I will send you a copy sometime this weekend! This should be a relatively quick read for those of you familiar with the protocol, and even if you just read the first part (a brief overview of bitcoin) that would be a huge help.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to look at this for me.
