https://blog.ethereum.org/2017/10/12/byzantium-hf-announcement/

damn those buggers 3 eth reward now instead of 5

15 sec block time I though they promised 12 Sad

The promise profitability will go back to October rates so an increase of about 30% from what the difficulty bomb took from us, but that remains to be seen.

Personally I hope metaverse price keeps climbing so i can move my rigs to that.  Who is going to compensate us for 4 months of 30% less earnings

Hmm, we forked already!

I though it was tommorow  Tongue

Time to adjust those mining calculators boys.

Or maybe no need to, as the profitability won't rise much...

Pre-fork the block times were hovering around 25-30 seconds, so dropping down to 15 seconds per block is a definite improvement. Even with the block reward reduced, 3 ETH every 15 seconds is 12 ETH issued per minute, which is quite favorable to the little over 10 (5 every 25-30 sec) issued per minute before. Maybe not quite 30% increase promised, but then again we haven't seen a full days worth of blocks produced yet under the new rules to really get a feel for the true block-times.

I see, though the block time would go down right after the fork....

Correct, it has already gone down a little and the blocks are being produced faster but it might take some time to get a true measure of the average speed. I just noticed that uncles are now almost the same reward as a full block reward too, so that should help some too.

yeah its quite funny now, we are basically mining uncles now  Angry Angry  , the really fucked us with the block reward reduction , I think it should have been 3.5 eth  not 3

will the difficulty drop is the big question ? I assumed that the diff increase was also due to the ice age as well.

btw uncle rate is still going to be the same , and uncles have always been around 3 eth so I dont see how that helps anything

Profit is profit..maybe once all the fork stuff settles we can see a reverse pattern in these stuff..! hope in a long run it will save us..2018 can be our year of profits as well.

Is the ice age delayed by 12 months or 18 months? Ultimately, I think that it will be more than 18 months before Casper (POS) will be implemented.

The difficulty will slowly adjust down, it is not instant.

The mining will be more profitable now and the price should rise over time because of the upgrade so we should be sitting with nice margins.

pools began to increase the profits slightly since the hard fork happened.
pools are calculating profits as average of last 24 hours, so we have to stay at least full day from the moment of the fork to calculate what approximately the increase of profit.

The difficulty at block 4369999 was 2997.274 T.

The difficulty of block 4370224 (mined just a few minutes before I typed this) is 2634.238 T.

So the difficulty is already going down noticeably and the fork only happened about 90 minutes ago. By tomorrow we should see more clearly where it will settle, and as was mentioned above the pools should have better profitability estimates by then as well.

Yeah I noticed the difficulty is dropping as well down 8% since the fork , so looks like I was correct

If we have a nice difficulty adjustment as well as a block time reduction they might be right in saying profitability could will be back to where it was around august/sept

hold on to your hats folks

Hash rate on eth solo pool dropped from 3 TH to 2.4 just now

I think some rigs are failing,  is there a new DAG too ?  This might explain the difficulty drop  Angry

The reward dropped from 5 to 3 and the difficulty dropped from 3 to 2.1, so you miners lost 40% on the reward and gained 25% on the difficulty, block times from 30 to 15 seconds is related to the difficulty. Many trolls said with this update, you would be earning more money, which is not true as it stands. So meaning, you stupid miners are earning 15% less money with this update, correct me if I'm wrong or missed something.

Lets hope you guys are right, and by tomorrow i will see the real results from this hardfork.  Smiley
