I realize I could just make a new account, but I like my user name and do not want to setup a new email address.

I have some coins I would like to sell on Mt. Gox because of the volume they do.

The day the claim site came up, I provided my IP address, my balance, and my Dwolla ID. Also put in my old password and created a new one.

It's now around an hour to re-opening (well if not delayed again) and still no email from Mt. Gox, and I cannot log in.

Anyone else not yet get their account back that had a zero coin and zero money balance?

Yep.  Got mine back. $0 USD balance.  0.00 BTCbalance.  No in/out accounts though.  Basically an empty account.  Never used yet.  Kinda pissed my email was stolen.  But thank goodness that's all that was taken.

I'm glad people like you are filling up the lines so that people with actual funds in their accounts will have to wait just a little bit longer..

So people with actual funds should be the only ones allowed to trade?

Zero balance accounts with no activity should have been auto verified by a script. I set the account up to sell the coins when I had enough and then they got hacked.

Oh FML I just fed a troll.

Or perhaps they aren't foolish enough to keep large amounts of currency (any type) on a site run by someone they don't know in Japan with absolutely no oversight.  They have as much right to their account as you do.  I am sure they are getting the same spam.

I opened an account a couple of weeks ago and had not transfered any $ or BTC into it yet. So was 0/0. My account was restored quickly, less than 24 hours, but I had a uncrackable password from the beginning so I didn't have to provide anything to "prove" that it was my account.

Last time I checked, Mt. Gox was open for registration, so this is not about being able to trade or not. This is about people making the staff at Mt. Gox waste time just so they can get to keep their username, and making the people who have actual funds lost in the system wait even longer for their accounts.

No that's not what it's about. It's about me wanting to keep my @#$@ email address and not have to keep track of some new email address I'll never use on anything else but Mt. Gox.

Zero balance unused accounts should have been auto recovered by script when a recovery request was made (It forces you to change to a secure password anyway).

They could have added that script in like 2 minutes or less, doing so would have immensely reduced their workload.

Isn't that the story already? Implement password hash in 2 minutes or less?

Yeah, maybe they should've spent 2 minutes on something like that. It is trivial after all. So is security - who cares?
