I think both options alone are bad. You should hold bitcoin and also buy undervalued coins because there are lots of perfect coins beside lots of trash ones.

I prefer to hold bitcoin, because although many altcoins are in the red zone I really feel unsure that this is the right time to buy altcoins. one reason I say that "because I have tried it and I lost enough"

I am balancing between both, Bitcoin and altcoins, there are some altcoins which definitly will go up after the fork IMO, I bought some cheap coins, and in the same time I am holding Bitcoin.

i would not shift from alts to btc. i would hold btc and invest in alts because they are cheap.
i think btc will correct when the fork has been done, then many will go in alts again.
this is my opinion.
we will see in some days.

I am buying some altcoins now since its cheap, and holding some bitcoin as well but then we really do not know what exchanges would support the fork. The novaexchange confirmed they are not supporting any upcoming forks.

Bitcoin is and will always be the most trustworthy coin so it's never a bad move to hold it. On the other hand altcoins in the red can be always considered as opportunities. If you can spot the right coins that will jump back harder it can be the fastest way of profiting. So you should buy some alt coins that are on the down trend but don't put all your money on altcoins. Bitcoin is the safest dock.

Buy as much btc you can. Free money / fork(s) coming up. The alts are pumped and dumped to hell at the moment. Btc is the master of all coins. Buy it and keep it. Hodl!

To get free BitcoinGold you have to the btc for one more week only. After then you can invest your btc anywhere. I don't think that the altcoin will come out from the red zone so quickly. |

Since its all red now and most of the altcoins are on sale, most traders would say it's shopping time. So I'd buy altcoins now and make sure these coins do increase when bitcoins price go low after the fork.
Altcoins are not sale know, Because bitcoin fork is developed day by day. Most of the traders are buy and hold the bitcoin. It will increase the value up coming days also. Many of the traders and users will buy bitcoin. In current scenario bitcoin is the best coin. Other altcoins are we use only depends on demand of the value. Leading and successful coin is the bitcoin. Hold a bitcoin in some more days it will great profit to traders. |

i think 23 rd october is the best time for taking altcoins. i agree with ask. take them when they are low and sell them when they are high. |

Both techniques are certain to get you an increase of some kind. There are going to be several good altcoin buys in the near future that will make you some substantial money if you play them right. In my opinion, buying undervalued alts is a more sure bet then ONLY holding BTC and hoping that BitcoinGold will have substantial value. Why does it have to be one or the other? |

Its a simple method to make profit in short term.
That depends on what you call 'short term'. It's been a month since altcoins dropped and they are not even close to recovering now, whereas bitcoin was the coin which could give one profit in a small period of time. What if they won't recover at all? Or if they will keep growing very slowly with some regular drops? I think that now altcoins are rather good long-term, because I believe that btc's dominance in general will slowly decrease anyway. I prefer you buy as many as possible altcoin in the red zone. It can give you bigger profit than bitcoin gold
Well, I guess altcoins are certainly better than bitcoin gold which is actually ruining btc itself and has no real chances of improving mining (if that's the fork I'm thinking about, 'cause there've been a lot of forks planned for the nearest future). |

I think it would be a good way to allocate funds for bitcoins and some "weaker" coins, of course, in my opinion, with the benefit of bitcoin cause i think it will have pump in near future. Nothing can be more beneficial for digital investors than investing in bitcoin and holding it for as long as possible. Bitcoin price is expected to rise up in coming years and it definitely will. I see BTC now entering into its youth and it is leaving infancy now. By watching its progress over few past weeks and the overall performance in 2017 so far, there is no doubt that it is best of the best. |

i will go for HODL btc. because there is a for sure profit , %100 , no risk. yes there are many good coins in red zone but who knows which one will recover as before ? many of you says it was same during the segwit but who can %100 say it will be same as before ? just after fork when we get our btc gold , than we can buy more alts, i dont think so just in one day they all will rise %50-90 , they need time so there will be time to buy still alts in red zone . dont panic.

I think it is good to do both because it will give you more profit. Try to divide you bitcoin for holding and for buying altcoin. Also, it will assure you that you will still earn even the one strategy fail. It is just like plan A and plan B so why don't you try doing both.
