The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Nice, if not somewhat haunting, image.

We really need to start a betting pool as to when gox will re-open.  In fact, I suspect there are many bets to be placed on gox.  Perhaps bitcoin gambling might replace the exchange?

I think their CEO has moved to Bali and has hired some high school students to keep us occupied in order to buy him enough time to outrun the Japanese authorities.
