I am new to mining. Idea is to have 2 GPUs like this.

https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/6GB-Gigabyte-GeForce-GTX-1060-Windforce-OC-Aktiv-PCIe-3-0-x16--Retail-_1117373.html

Someone recommended a more powerful adapter than the current one, so this was bought:

https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/650-Watt-Corsair-CS-Series-CS650M-Modular-80--Gold_942714.html

However in the HP 8200 elite minitower the motherboard number is E93839 and FXN1.

And it seems the adapter and the motherboard are not compatible (too many pins?). (is this the main problem?)

What do you advise? What is the best solution for this?

The best thing you can hope for is to run 1 card on this motherboard and it needs to be a gtx 1060 w/out additional pcie requirements.  Then you can use your current setup.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Is there another adapter you would recommend to use 2 GPUs? Or is the motherboard's "fault" here?

I just want to solve this situation without spending too much on the gear.

Btw is there a special subtopic dedicated to issues like that on this forum?

There is. It is the alt coin section about halfway down the main page.

Also, it looks like your motherboard is quite nonstandard. There is no 24 pin ATX power connector like you would expect. I would not recommend this board for mining.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

Ok, thank you for the info. Sorry for spamming here :/ I will move my questions to that other subtopic next time.

One more thing: there is another computer, a HP Elite, where the motherboard has the tag IPMMB-FM. Does this have the same issue with the adapter? Is this more suitable for the mentioned GPUs?

You need some sort of adapter cable like this one:

I had the same issue when I wanted to replace the power supply in an older Dell PC that I had.  I had to get a 24 pin to Dell adapter cable.

Hi! Thank you again for the input. So on this second computer the motherboard data says D33D66 and N14939, while the computer product number is QB165EA#BED. Will this work with the aforementioned GPUs?
btw thank you for telling the mods to move the topic.
