Is there any concern about viewing a seed phrase via electrum or another mobile wallet on an android device? Is there any malware out there that could be monitoring one's screen?

I don't worry about it. But I don't install too many apps on my phone, and keep only small amounts (0.0x BTC) in my Android wallet.
When it comes to malware it's safe to assume it can do virtually anything. But the odds of that happening to me are small enough for the amount I store on it.

I'm pretty sure there are malware out there that can do that. But if I remember correctly, some apps blocks screenshots when viewing private keys on mobile; I think Copay does this. Still not a good idea to hold good amounts of crypto on your mobile wallet though.

To be safe, grab yourself a hardware wallet. You can never be too safe:

It depends on the android version you have and (most likely) on whether you have the latest security patches or not.
Usually, when any app is attempting to record your screen (including malware), this warning should pop up on your Android device:

Unless of course there is a vulnerability that bypasses this warning, which is unlikely that it'd be used to steal your Electrum seed. Or you'd know about it weeks after it was patched anyways.

This is on Android 7.1.2 Nougat, I am not sure about previous versions.

In any case, to just be sure, I would only handle small amounts of btc on my phone.
Bigger transactions can be made from a secure (offline) pc if needed.
