Just thought I'd say hello.  So glad I found this forum!  I've only recently started to actively learn about and trade Bitcoins and Altcoins. I'm an avid podcast listener and stumbled upon The Bad Crypto Podcast and got hooked into giving this crypto stuff a try.  Honestly, I don't expect much from my retirement fund (in the distant future), so I feel like I need to try something radically different and yet, still legal. ;-) I'm a complete fish out of water on all of this but I DO learn and find this all quite exciting.

The thing that makes me the most nervous (and makes me wonder if I'm cut out for cryptocurrency at all) is that horrible feeling of waiting for a coin transfer from an exchange to make it to my wallet.  The waiting kills me and I feel certain for 10 or 20 minutes that I must've screwed up and sent it to a mistyped address somehow.  But so far, so good.

Happy to be here and learn from ya'll. :-)

well, generally if you have put correct address there won't be any critical troubles except possible delays because for hard network loads..
as for back up for retirement, hm.. weill, honestly I doubt that crytpomarket will continue to be so open and profitable, governments all over the world  have started regulations already and they will continue to tighten the process.  so.. make money while it is possible, but in long range who knows what would happen..

First of all, welcome to the world of Bitcoins or rather say CryptoWorld. Piece of advice though is just enjoy your stay here and you'll learn a lot of stuff aside on what you are currently listening (referring to podcast and stuff). Also, don't think that in this kind of venture this will be sufficient enough for your retirement, but maybe when days goes by, you'll get lucky on your investments (cross fingers).

In regards to transaction time, due to hard network loads and transactions coming in and out its all natural, just make sure that you are only using a secured and private wallet.
