Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

The importance of "hodling" is not to forget how hold is actually spelled. Is it just me or this hodl joke stopped being funny a few years ago?
And to be on topic, I think http://deadcoins.com/ disagrees with you. Investing money in crypto and literally forgetting about it for a few years seems downright stupid. Don't assume that if Bitcoin rose so much in value the same thing is going to happen with every shitcoin around.

You are right, not every "shitcoin" will increase it's price. I don't even think their price should increase at all, but pump and dump will always be around, and that's why they are here for I guess. But if holding "pump and dump" coins is stupid, and I'm sure most people won't do it, holding bitcoin, or ethereum, or litecoin, or any of those major coins that already have proven that they actually have some value and real use, is very important in my opinion, not just because of the profit it might give you, but because of the support you are showing. I don't really need these pictures to hold my coins. I don't really hold BTC because the price is rising. I hold BTC because they have amazing potencial of use.

It's satisfying when you meet like-minded people. Of course, for the people who are in this since the beginning is not about the value, it's about the potential and the underlying technology. But I have the feeling that for the large influx of people who joined the party lately everything is about the value and the technology behind a project is only a justification for pumps & dumps whenever a new milestone is achieved.

yes, many middle-age women get involved in the crypto speculation and ico on the hot June and July, they knew nothing about blockchain but only care about dump and pump and how to make profits, they ignore the technology and will never understand, this is unhealthy and dangerous

where in the world have middle aged women got into crypto?   I saw something similar with Chinese housewives in a casino in Singapore and it was amusing - they sat for hours at the tables losing hand over hand, and came back the next day...

I'm glad I saw this chart. Sometimes I get caught up in the day-to-day market and worry about missed opportunities to buy/sell when I should just HODL long-term. The crypto market is a long-term investment over many years.

Litecoin soars up like never before (in terms of usd, afaik). This keeps me on holding my altcoins. People should consider this thread. Maybe they would want to go back here after another year with a very big smiling face.

Personally, That is an excellent comparison, an easy way to teach people to not easily get FUD, and the best way to teach impatience trader about the importance of it.
