Dual molex to dual PCIe 8 pins safe?

I haven't use this type of splitter yet. however I do use SATA for risers without any issues, just ensure it is connected to 1 on 1 setup, 1 riser to 1 sata without splits.

Should be safe if you use like less than 50 Watts.

To power 2 GPUs from 1 molex? Then no.

Dual Molex are not safe. Single Molex are DEFINATELY not safe. Do not use ANYTHING other than PCIe to power GPU's if you do not want to risk burning the PSU's, ive burnt two using dual molex conectors.
If you do not have any more PCIe connectors, do not add more cards, this is why people buy 1300w psus even when theyd on tneed the extra power, for the connectors.

This is a big no, no, unless you want to burn your rig.
Two molex -> one 8 PCIe is all right, I was using it like this for a long time with old R9 280x cards.

This would be to power 1070s on risers. It’s a 850w power supply so I thought the power is fine I’m just Short on connectors to get the risers and GPUs together. One dual would power the riser/GPU combo for each card. If I’m good o power is it okay?  What power supply has enough connectors for 4 cards without some sort of mod?

Most 850w PSU's have 4 PCIe 6+2 connectors. The GTX 1070s have only one 8 pin power connectors. So what seems to be the problem? Why are you running short of connectors? Are you using PCIe power type risers as well? Just use Molex type risers and youll do fine.

They work but there’s no guarantee of the quality of these risers, so beware of that. It’s always best to run your cards from straight 8 or six pin power cords, but if you need to monitor the cable to make sure it doesn’t burn or something like that. With server power supplies you can wire the cables yourselves so you can get more six and eight pin connectors and they tend to be more reliable in my experience.

Dual molex can support up to 150W. So you cannot support dual PCIE 8pin.

Dual molex can support up to 150W. So you cannot support dual PCIE 8pin.

So we can not use 1 cable pcie 8 pin for 2 rx 480? Why they give splitter at that cable?

it can be dependent on cable quality, and it can be dependent on copper wire diameter. you can calculate the safety range (diameter - wattage) on internet.

but in 1-2-3 gpu on 1 psu cable is okay (if cable have good quality)

I would never trust to take any serious power from molex, I've seen plenty of those connectors fail (burn).

Just buy high quality molex cables to be safe.

You can use SATA. Just use 6-pin to SATA, and not molex to SATA or vice-versa. You'll overdraw power and start a fire.

OK, too much dangerous half knowledge has accumulated here...

It would have been smart to buy 1070s with only one PCIe 6 Pin like ASUS Strix O8G...but its too late for that...maybe if you plan to buy more look out for that. For now you will have to plug in a 6 pin and a 8 pin to your cards if they have both plugs.

The power draw of GPUs works the following way: The GPU takes up all the power it can/needs from the directly connected power connectors and if it still needs more it will draw power from the riser. The 6 (75W) & 8(150W) pin connectors from your PSU provide enough power, i would plug those into your GPUs directly. 4x1070 has a TDP of 600W, check your PSU if it can deliver that much on that cable arm (sticker on the PSU has a chart which cable arm has how much load max).

As you said, now you dont have any powercables left for your 6 pin powered risers. Here you can use those 2 molex -> 1 x 6 pin adapters (1 molex = 55W for 5V and 130W for 12V) as it is unlikely that the card will pull much power from the riser when it already has excess power supply directly.

1000 watts gold rated and 10 connectors. Won’t have to worry about any molex or SATA to run 4 cards and won’t have to worry about coming close to max power on my 850.  I’ll just sell my 850 to recoup some of the cost and have the piece of mind that I’m safe when I’m not at home.

Dont you need 4*"6+2"pin + 4*6pin + 3*6pin = 11*"6+2" pin? That PSU has only 10*6+2 pin
