I think people do not tend to keep altcoin much during this time as the market is more inclined to buy Bitcoin and people should switch to Bitcoin at this time because the Bitcoin price may reach $ 8000 in the next few days. . Only buy altcoin when Bitcoin prices are down and stable

There are many alternatives, and no one will be able to give you the absolute correct answer, because no one can see in the future. The best approach is to be diversified, what that means is that you should own a lot of different coins, that will decrease your exposure of holding just a single asset, which price can fluctuate by a lot - it will, in other words, reduce your volatility by simply holding more coins as gains and losses are coming to an equilibrium (more or less). Some specific long term investments that I like are Ethereum, NEO and XRP, they have quite high market capitalizations as well which makes them relatively less volatile than other assets, but in general there isn't much you can do wrong by owning the ten highest capitalized cryptocurrencies. Most of the losses and gains will balance each other out, so make sure you choose as many as possible. And don't invest in ICO's if you have money that you really need (you should't be investing in that case to start with).

Holding AltCoins long term has always been hard for me. I tend to sell when I 10x or 25x my original investment. I recently did this with Waves and hoping to do the same with Electroneum and Collector Coin.

There is no definite time  until when bitcoin and altcoins will continue to  survive. Aside from btc that is good for investment in a long term period some ALTs are also good form of investment like ETH, XRP and the upcoming coin from ICO.

I think there is not easy to say what altcoins is good for long-term. Because as you know, Bitcoin has increase too fast, most altcoins has falled down. However, you should consider altcoins which has a big marketcap and big volume. It will easy to sell and buy. Maybe it is good for long-term

Palm beach pick was ripple but I was very skeptical when I found out it was Ripple and didn't fall for it, I'm not sure about the whole Palm Beach thing, if enough people buy or sell a coin I'm sure it can cause price action but it can swing the wrong way really fast. Look for a BTC exit strategy guys, I'm going 70% out and buying the correction...just my opinion you should do your own due dilligance and hope for the great returns on your investment

The problem is everyone will have a different opinion, and some people will recommend a coin if they have some and want to sell it.
In general the coins nearer the top of the market have proven themselves more and are safer long term bets. As you go to lower cap coins the risk increases, but then so does the potential for big % increases. So this is why many people suggest to split your coins betwen some bitcoin some top altcoins and some lower altcoins.

Right now IOTA should be worth a buy.

Primary reason is that it is indeed a currency without any sort of transfer fees since it is not blockchain based. Also, it has 0% inflation. The ICO went pretty much under the radar of everyone, and price right now is low(below $0.5).

If you can hold that for long, you should be in for a treat.

Ethereum's price is so low relatively to btc. They made a big change with byzantium but it didn't reflect to the price as a result of btc storm.

Waves is always must-have coin on the portfolio. After the ng protocol and new dex, price will be 3x or 4x higher than now.

I  buy ethereum just for investing into the ICOs projects and i don't think ethereum will be more better in the future especially on the ethereum's price because ethereum doesn't has maximal numbers of supply, it is just like fiat currencies there is inflation in ethereum because switch from proof of work PoW to proof of stake PoS and ethereum has big competitor, it is EOS that more better than ethereum and token of EOS price is still cheap right now.

CIVIC is the best altcoin to invest in and hold. The project is based upon the idea of identity verification with help of blockchain technology and is pretty affordable. The idea of the project is very unique and appears very promising. The team of the project also appears very solid and hardworking which will definitely aid in its growth.
You can expect the price of civic to be around 1$ within 2-3 years for sure.
