How do I know if I am mining already?

I am running guiminer for 12 hours already in Slash's pool but I have not received any shares yet (not even stale ones). I wonder if I have everything properly set up.

• My wallet has finished updating.
• GUIminer shows that I have a speed of 799 khash/s.
• Last messages in console are as follows:

It's not mining. Re-check the stratum URL, because it isn't connecting to the node (server).

Nice to see its working, but mining with a APU isn't very cost effective.

According to my statistics, 1 share for me equals 0.00000148 BTC. Projected return for the year - 7 USD :DDD
The worth per share would be 20 times higher if I received rewards for all my shares :/ I still don't know why for some of share batches I receive absolutely nothing.

I have no delusions of big money, because I do not plan to invest in any additional HW. However, after changing to the other device and adding flags things got a little better
