Currently we have a lot of interesting new technologies evolving side by side. Two of them are AI and Blockchain. How do you see these two technologies merge in relevant use cases in the future?

The most obvious are Machine Learning based crypto hedge funds. Which already exist.

Then there's projects like SONM, Golem and Elastic. Which could have very powerful implications for ML and DL researchers and engineers, since computing power is hard to come by if you're not part of a massive tech company.

There's also Presearch, which seeks to disrupt web searches by paying out the ad revenue to the users of its search engine. And search engines themselves are heavily built upon Machine Learning these days.

Perhaps the blockchain could be used to record self-driving cars as well, to create an immutable database that could be used for legal purposes in the event of a traffic accident.

You could probably take just about any random thing and find a way for it to benefit from either the blockchain or AI or both, even if it might not always be obvious.

Well a dataset which can't be manipulated to fit your opinion will do wonders for the world, we still have people who think earth is flat, imagine verifying every single step through block chain. There will be no more doubting science, things will become transparent in my opinion. Imagine an AI running on a block chain, its code can't be corrupted by a single evil person this will make public more comfortable imo. Every decision the AI takes can be recorded on to the blockchain etc the possibilities are endless with AI and blockchain working together.

You can still manipulate the data that gets put into the blockchain though (when it comes to measurements or something like that). And most people aren't capable of verifying how objective something is. I do agree that things will keep getting better thanks to the Blockchain and AI though.

I think Golem is one of use case as graphic processing power is important for deep learning AI training these days but not every AI researcher or startup has the resource to afford these heavy demand of graphic cards , this is where Golem comes to fill the gap by taking computing and graphic power from the people and rent to these AI startup at a relatively low price

There is a huge room for innovation and it's actually happening, simplest being machine learning over the blockchain. There is a research titled "Automated Bitcoin Trading via Machine Learning Algorithms" by three Stanford researchers in which they could predict the sign of the daily price change of bitcoin with 97% accuracy using some features collected over the course of 5 years. You could go similar path and predict malicious behaviors or transactions and the likes. So there is a huge room in there. Imagination is the limit.

Advertising, Content Creation, Social Media, I see blockchain and AI merging on several levels, it's interesting to see the amount of new projects coming out every day.

Please post some links to these “interesting new technologies evolving side by side”. They aren’t; both have their own technical hurdles to get out of the “experimental stage”.

It takes time. AI has long left its "experimental stage" though. The only thing missing is even more computing power.

yes it will need time to see who will be stay for a longer time and what benefits from each project. i am sure that in future, there will be many new technologies will come out with the other function than AI and Blockchain. but as long as it will help people to make a better life then the project will be attracting many people to use it. both AI and Blockchain is still in development and if both technologies is merged then i think it will be useful for people too.

Whatever comes up out of blockchain and AI it should be very interesting to see.

All major tech companies (and other big corporate) believe AI is the next big thing, add Blockchain to it and there you go.

Some interesting times in the tech world to come.

Google recently released info about their new AI that can program and improve itself... Things are starting to get crazy.

AI and Blockchain are already merging. There are some funds that specialize on trading cryptos with AI algorithms.

And SONM also seems to be trying to cater to data scientists, who need a lot of computing power to train their AI algorithms.

Every decision the AI takes can be recorded on to the blockchain etc the possibilities are endless with AI and blockchain working together.

Well the datasets users would have to feed in or the parameters for data collection by an AI would still be exposed to initial bias, though of course, if it were all transparent, others would be able to rank objectiveness and propose add ons or adjustments to improve that.

I see verification of identity, as well as compliance, that already use big data, machine learning and deep learning, as potential candidates for blockchain innovation. In the sense that immutability... proof of work or other cryptographic algorithm can help secure data against intrusion and alteration.

The biggest risk of AI imho is not evil persons, but unintended consequences; letting programs run outside the context they are trained for may yield bizarre and potential dangerous results.

Giving researches access to computing power (that otherwise wouldn't be utilized), as mentioned here already is a good example of cooperation, the others are indeed centralization of identity validation, potentially giving you control of which data you share with services (so AI can provide better quality advertisement data, medical data, ...)
That's why Elon and some other people created a board to research ways to mitigate the risks that AI might bring. Overall I'm pretty sure that things will be better than without AI, even with some errors and accidents happening. It's not going to be a surprise if we mess up while using AI, but the benefits should by far outweigh the harms.

Self-driving cars will be far less dangerous than human drivers too, so I am looking forward to a future where humans aren't allowed to drive outside of closed off race tracks.

There already is an organisation that is dedicated to discussing, considering, monitoring and building frameworks for ethical design in AI. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) published at the end of last year the first draft of this a "common standards" for so called "ethically-aligned design" (EAD): http://standards.ieee.org/develop/indconn/ec/ead_v1.pdf

At the time of receiving feedback, until May this year I believe, I think there was one suggestion to branch out the study to consider blockchain use in some of the solutions within, although it was pointed out that some kill-data mechanism (to prevent AI from overstepping) would be against the immutable design of blockchain.

As long as the AI acts by drawing information from the Blockchain, rather than being an integral part of it, there shouldn't be an issue though. You could keep the Blockchain going while "kill switching" the AI. The AI could then be reactivated once it has been adjusted in the event that problems arise from the use of it.
Of course this is overly simplified and I might be missing some other points, but that's why these institutes are being created.
