Today I saw Coinmarketcap to advert a ponzi scheme site, promising 12% daily interest : https://laser.online/

Does such stuff make you loose faith and trust in sites who are advertising it?

Coinmrket i think is just a regular site and May be it was paid by that company to advertise or promote its own site. Seeing it is acquiring many views, its good opportunity to advertise site links. Because I have seen many sites in coinmarket cap and annoying as they be, that is how a site is earning.

Oh I saw it, it's unfortunate. but I believe that they are only renting their space and are not encouraging anyone to invest in this site ponzi, said that people are resposible by themselves, people should do research before investing in anything.

from what I've seen a few days, this ponzi site has become very popular and they must be investing a lot of money in advertising, I hope someone will report them to the authorities

I understand them so well! It's hard to make money from publishing on the web, so most editors accept anything. It's also possible they're not aware of that advertiser. I don't blame them.

Oh, that doesn't looks good. Sometimes when people saw advertisement on trusted website, it makes advertised site legit for them.
As I understand, this banner is not from advertising network? It's rented directly by Coinmarketcap? If yes, that's really bad. If this banner would be from ad network, I wouldn't blame Coinmarketcap, because they aren't in control of advertised websites.

We know that coinmarketcap has giving has a real time updates about the market and we really can't blame them to advertise a ponzi / scam site to their page. They are not encouraging people to invest their but they are only for the payment of advertising.

Because of their service they are well known place for a good advertisement and views for any company that wish to advertise to them but they should have a policy that they won't be supporting any scam nor advertising.

That banner says,
Quote
Tired of fake ICOs?
As if they are not a fake investment scheme. This is a desperate move for that ponzi, 12% profit daily isn't realistic.

Anyway I didn't noticed this as I'm focused all the time with the content not with those ads, thanks for noticing it then.

Every time i check coinmarketcap i always seen cloud mining site or ponzi site.. But since coinmarketcap is a free tool i think they are just adding this advertisement for maintaining their website.. Well its not a problem you can ignore it if you see ponzi site that actually are scam..
For me its not annoying not the same as pop up ads that will really annoying .
Mostly i seen here are cloud mining like genesis mining and ICO's advertise randomly..
Just notice referrals links they use for every banners..

I think they just accepted that advertisement to be put in their website. Everyone has to make money in someway, And I see that when you click advertising link:

Quote
What is the approximate budget for the advertising campaign? ($10000 minimum order)

But I haven't seen any policy about advertising scam ICO or projects.

So if anyone can afford to pay that amount they are definitely going to advertisement it on their website. I don't know who run coinmarketcap though, if it still own by CoinTelegraph. They also have a thread here:

It is what it is mate. This is what's keep the site still alive and giving valuable informations we need for statistical analysis on cryptocurrencies. Maybe this give them good profits. But this is bad because they are promoting ponzi sites. Im not sure it's a ponzi. But 12% seems suspicious to me. Anyway, it's fine to me since im aware about ponzi schemes lurking all over the internet. And wee have nothing to do about that since it's their site. Actually even on some legit sites we see some ponzi advertisements on them. So invest at your own risks. Me, i just ignore them. Quite annoying but what can we do about that?

For us who are familiar with Crypto-Currency world it's not a problem as we can detect a Ponzi scheme easily, but for beginners it can be considered a legit site, especially being advertised by a popular Crypto site that is Coinmarketcap... That is a trap for newbies and I think Coinmarketcap loses reputation by accepting this kind of banner on their site.

When I click on the banner I can see really fast the referral link: "Noah12". So they are not only promoting the site, but referring people to earn comission over the investors.

No it doesn't , I'll still use it for cryptocurrency list and info needs. Coinmarketcap also list possible scam and shitcoins so that's not a new thing and I think, it doesn't mean that they truly endorsed such site by putting the ads.
They only want to have monetization , the same with bitcointalk (check ads disclaimer on every first post).
Also, you'll see on their site's faq "We're not here to judge the merits of any cryptocurrency, but we provide the best tools for you to make your own conclusions."

Couldn't find any advertising terms for coinmarketcap but I think it is quite mandatory because coinmarketcap is visited by many crypto lovers and newbie investors who will easily get scammed by ponzis like this.

Looks like that ponzi have paid more than $10,000 for that top banner or even more and coinmarketcap is busy on counting those money rather than filtering what they are advertising.

Agreed. They really should put that terms/disclaimer somehow to decrease the liabilities on the effects of the advertised site unto their visitors (atleast giving notice to them will lessen the risk getting scammed). I guess that's the only cent I could also suggest to them to clean this up. I understand that coinmarketcap also needs its maintenance for running their crypto service.

P.S. I don't support ponzi

none of them care really, they just want the money and they want more traffic to get that money.
a simple ad, which is advertising a service elsewhere is nothing! coinmarketcap used to list all kinds of scam coins that were too obvious. after so many complaints they removed some and do a little more screening now.

besides, scam advertisements are not new in this world. all the so called news sites are doing it. you just have to pay the price of it!

It is not wrong to advertise anything into a site as long as money matters at least for a site owner.
People creates sites to make money, right? Maybe coinmarketcap received the best offer from laser.online and placed their ad.

It will be wrong if a mature person falls into the trap of ponzi.
Those who are mature enough to make investments online then they should also know the definition of DANGER.
And they should always think of their own safety, I mean, their own money safety.

Ponzi sites are still in market, it is due to some people still support this.
Imagine if no one support this shit, what will happen to ponzi sector? Simple, it will be vanished!

We, bitcointalk community are always fighting against ponzi. But still we need more time to win this war.

Like others said the site has no direct connection with the mentioned site its just doing what its paid for although, I agree they should check who they are advertising before putting it up many innocent users with low knowledge about these type of scams fall for it but in the end that's how they are making money to keep the site going cannot blame them either.

Well its pretty disappointing but then the site is making money from it so those people who visit the site should know better and do their own research. For the newbies to crypto world, it might be pretty enticing but to those who are experienced enough will know that those kind of sites are scam or even the newbies will know also at first glance but would still try in the hopes that it would be paying and given that it is advertise by a reputable site makes it more attractive.

Maybe that's why they didn't put any disclaimer in the first place. They are already cleaning their hands before any claims against them could be made. And $10K is a lot of money. Maybe that ponzi scheme really have lot of money to begin with, money they collected from all the ponzi scheme's they run throughout the internet. Again its premium pay, coinmarketcap would just accepts it as long as you can pay them right? Just sad though when you see newbie threads popping and claiming they have been scammed, maybe they got it from coinmarketcap, or maybe not.  Huh
