The GNU Taler project, promoted by the Free Software Foundation and developed in the GNU framework in collaboration with INRIA, is a new free software system for electronic payments under development.
Unlike BitCoin or cash payments, Taler will be aimed at ensuring that governments can easily track their citizens’ income and thus collect sales, value-added or income taxes. Taler will not be a new currency, but use an electronic mint holding financial reserves in existing currencies such as U.S. dollars, euros or bitcoin.

People are seeking for decentralized currencies to get their freedom back that is the reason Bitcoin is this valuable. Why someone will like to use this payment services if that can use PayPal type or centralized coins like Ripple more flexibly. What the edges and benefits which I will get using this token ?

We have created a company, Taler Systems SA in Luxembourg. GNU Taler Token is the ’shares‘ of the GNU Taler blockchain system.

GNU Taler :
“When you pay with Taler, your identity does not have to be revealed to the merchant. The bank, government and exchange will also never learn how you spent your electronic money,” it is written. “However, you can prove that you paid in court if necessary.”
&
The development team meanwhile hails from various outlets including Inria, which is in turn placed under the supervision of French government industries of research and development.
