Hi, similar story here. Have read the forums off and on, and would like to get involved with crypto currencies more.

I'm interested mostly in Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Yacoin (YAC).

Welcome to the forum!

Yacoin is a coin that was released last month that is meant to be CPU mined, rather than depend on GPU or ASICs. The hash algorithm it uses has memory requirements that remove the normal advantages of GPUs and ASICs.

It's a young coin, but to some of us, it stands out above the recent crop of coins in that it has more thought and planning behind it. Too many of the recent altcoins look like they were released for quick attempts at pump and dump.

I don't know if this site is being updated, but here's some info: http://yacoin.org/

Also, this thread in the Alternate cryptocurrencies forum has recent info.
