I mean there's not repurcusions if the party receives bitcoins and doesn't deliver a project. where'as with paypal/credit cards it can be tracked what party received it and they could be sued etc. if failed to deliver (ran with the money)
just pointing out a general detriment of this site, because I didn't see the 'bitcoinstarter' original thread
This is a unique problem in the Bitcoin ecosystem and one I'd love to work with Bitcoinstarter in the future on to resolve. We have an enormous advantage in the movement of money, but a massive disadvantage in accountability and transparency. Thus there needs to be some work to add meta-data and features to certain addresses in order to make kickstarter like projects more fair to all parties.
Sorry for being late to the party here. I couldn't agree more regarding
accountability and
transparency being an issue not just for projects /our site but all services of the Bitcoin eco-system. At some point there has to be trust or we have to become the escrow between the two parties. I think it is safer then having a direct payment address go right to the party and then they can take off before they get what they need even. I don't think in the long run it would be wise for us to take off with a project creators Bitcoin purse after its successful as it would do us no good. Then there is the whole , I don't want to leave any coins on the site which is understandable. If people want they could donate at the last minute and not leave any coins on the site. I'm open to suggestions and feedback!
