He started his website this week, selling handmade jewelry.

Definitely not my thing,  but the website is pretty slick and minimalist.   He should put something that says "bitcoin accepted" right on the front page, so people will know.  It's also a great idea that he's listened to you in that respect.   Gold rings and earrings are just the kind of thing rich bitcoiners would buy for the boozy 'ol slapper girlfriend.   Good luck with the site.

If he adds that one small critical detail about accepting and using escrow, then he has a better chance of attracting customers. It will be hard, especially for high-value products, to convince people to send bitcoins upfront, even if your brother has a good reputation in the Netherlands as a jeweller. This is because bitcoin is inherently susceptible to fraud. And also because of bitcoin being an irreversible payment method.

The escrow bit is my suggestion. Or look at it as a tip to improve your chances of expanding your business safely in the bitcoin community.
