When will the bulls understand that the only thing bitcoins are good for RIGHT NOW at this point in time is buying and selling drugs on the Silk Road. Nothing else. And those people dont care what the price is. And who knows how long that is going to last as its getting tougher to anonymously buy and sell coins. Down but not out YET.

Man, you are so behind the times. Drugs are last year's news. Everyone knows that gambling is what people are doing with their coins these days. There's also a rapidly growing market in pornography. You gotta keep up with the latest developments. No longer is Bitcoin exclusively a black market currency. It is now officially a dark grey market currency. And it's getting less dark by the minute.

You are right. they are good for gambling. Porn is free. But it is getting harder to get coins anonymously.

WHY? Did you have to pay a transaction fee to convert the euro to BTC?

But it is getting harder to get coins anonymously.
You do realise Mt. Gox was never anonymous in the first place, right?

I'm a bit confused what the point is that you're trying to make. From an investment standpoint, why does it matter if you can or cannot buy things with Bitcoin? The fact of the matter is people are making money mining and trading Bitcoin and that isn't going to stop anytime soon.

The transaction fee I paid for EUR>BTC was negligible when compared to the EUR>USD fee charged by PayPal.
Why? Because it was more practical and cheap to pay using BTC, given the invoice was in USD.

There has to be an amount where the fee IS relevent, then what?

Oh I guess we should all ignore the fact that is has been proven to be a great store of value.  Or the fact that i can send someone money when I choose without and overseer and little to no fees.  Tons of excellent services and products offered in the community for Bitcoins and that is growing but I guess we can ignore all that factual evidence for no good reason lol.

I think this is part of the reason why punters are "investing" in overpriced Block Erupters, BFL's etc. Its a bitcoin laundry. USD or trackable BTC in, then mining gives untrackable BTC out.
