I'm so tired of GUIminer NOT work on new rigs I put together because of GPU driver issues.

Im trying to run an hd6950 off an older MB with Pentium 4. If I intstall recent drivers than GUIminer will run but no shares are ever accepted. If I use the older drivers (that work on my other mining rigs like catalyst 11.11) Than GUIminer just crashes, and wont ever start. The same thing happens for CGminer...

Does anyone else have a similar issue with which Display drivers they use? Im running into this issue with ALL my rigs so I cant be the only one...

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Nothing? Does anyone here use CGminer or GUIminer? If so than you certainly have had to deal with their infamous driver issues... So how did you guys resolve it?

This is from the CGMiner Top Post

----------------------------------------CGMiner FAQ---------------------------
Q: Which AMD SDK is the best for cgminer?
A: At the moment, versions 2.4 and 2.5 work the best for R5xxx and R6xxx GPUS.
SDK 2.6 or 2.7 works best for R7xxx. SDK 2.8 is known to have many problems.
If you are need to use the 2.6+ SDK or R7xxx or later, the phatk kernel will
perform poorly, while the diablo or my custom modified poclbm kernel are
optimised for it.

Q: Which AMD driver is the best?
A: Unfortunately AMD has a history of having quite a few releases with issues
when it comes to mining, either in terms of breaking mining, increasing CPU
usage or very low hashrates. Only experimentation can tell you for sure, but
some good releases were 11.6, 11.12, 12.4 and 12.8. Note that older cards may
not work with the newer drivers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With my 5xxx GPU's I use Catalyst 12.1 and SDK 2.5 and that has been stable for over a year on Win7 32bit.

Ah, Vista.  Do you have a different OS you can put on that machine?  I seem to recall something strange about Vista, besides it really sucking as an OS, but I can't remember what it was.  Maybe do a search on Vista in the CGMiner and Guiminer threads?

I would opt for XP till M$ no longer provides updates which is about another year.

You can use the 13.4, that just require that you remove that amd_bitalign call in the opencl kernel in the #ifdefine BFI_INT ...
