It's quite important, as it provides some kind of "credibility" in the community, and participants know that their funds are safe. A good escrow is normally a reputable member from the community, and there are some people providing this service on the "Services" board.

This thing is one of the most important specially if you are an investor on a certain ICO which would really give you some assurance that you investment or money is safe incase there would be a problem or the project did fail.Unlike on not having an escrow which dev or owners of certain project would potentially ran of on the funds which would really potentially become scam.I do always refer to join on ICO which do have escrowed funds and yet there are lots of trustable escrow on this forum.

I think Escrow, or not, is not as important as the team. Are they real persons? Do at least one or two of them have a social profile?
Can you get their real names? and so on.
Escrow is for people who are too lazy to research for good projects.

I rather know that my investment is safe and that in case something goes wrong that person will send my coins back, than knowing who might scam me

Yes of course it is. It helps build initial trust at the least. It's always good to know that your funds or investments are safe. It's very obvious what qualities an escrow should have. They should have already made a name in the community, there's a lot of good escrows here in the forum, you can find them in the service section.

We need to debunk some crazy myth right here - ICO with escrow is not automatically regarded as well established or 'better' than the one without one.
Having escrow is sure a great option and additional argument that ICO might be more secure but you need to consider some things first:

1. Hiring escrow is not that difficult or hard, you just need to pay him. Most escrows will accept any job even the shadiest one.
2. Scams when it happens - it will be most likely after escrowed funds will be released.
3. All in all, don't be baited by a false sense of security.

Yes, it is important, however escrow service it's a very specialized, mostly associated with Smart Contracts. Agrelo has managed to deliver this combination of services as an ICO.

It depends a lot.. It is difficult to find a ico who has their funds escrowed.. what if the escrow default the team and he run away with the funds? Just imagine this scenario, the escrower just having 100 million dollars for an ico, what is he going to do? nobody knows who is the real name of the escrow.
It is difficult.. maybe it is a little bit risky for the project to do that, because it would ruin their reputation.
That is why i never invest in those shady projects..

NO and in capital letters, there was a time (waves ico, lisk ico) where projects without ICO were called SCAM and so on. But nowadays with ERC20 Tokens so basically coins being run on a Ethereum chain the escrows somehow disappeard simply making it useless to spend money on them. Because the people get their tokens immediatly there is no need of constructing another Blockchain.

It will depend on the project. Some project use ERC20 token so no escrow needed. But if the projects raise money through non erc20 token then yes, escrow will be safer.

It is essential! On top of that, it would be good also to create a sort of rating system.
A rating for all the different aspects of an ICO. For example the team, the rodmap, the whitepaper, the tech used by the coin, etc.

It's really important. The qualities should be the escrows must have done with a lot of the number of the transaction and about to have a good credibility in the community. And another important thing about the escrows must ever have done with big amount of the transaction. Not only in the quantity but about the quality of the escrow too.
To secure the money from the investors in the safe place.

Yes. Escrow is not so meaningful when project team consists of well-known reliable people. But if we take into account that there are a lot of unknown projects with unknown people the precence of the escrow is pretty important. At least for me when I make research before investment.

When I see escrow, I usually look for other reasons that ICO might be a scam. It kind of makes me more aware to look for those signs.
I think many ICO's use escrow to settle some bad mouthing and it's a good idea to look for what those weak points of their project/ICO might be.

Yes, this ensures the legitimacy of the project for the people. This is one key to acquire investors and get more campaign joiners. The escrow must be a reputable forum member and has already proved the great service he/she can give. I join campaigns of known escrows because this gives me an assurance that a payment for my service contribution for the project's campaign will be given.

Sure it's better if an ICO has an escrow but it's really not that hard to set up a fake escrow so too much emphasis shouldn't be put on it.
