So i have decided to go for GPU instead of ASIC (Main reason being L3+ Availability 2nd reason if i dont get along with mining it can be easier to sell this equipment on)

Decided to go for....

5 ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
1 EVGA Supernova 1600w
1 EVGA Supernova 1300W
H81 Pro BTC R2.0??? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS MOBO?

Also what else am i going to need to run this!

Software is fine getting win.10 and will get the mining programs from pools.

Is there anything im missing?

I am new to this and this will be my first rig, Should be picking most of the kit up on Monday.

You will need to take cooling into consideration.   If they are in a small, enclosed room you the room will get very warm.  If there is a window in the room and the outside air is cool enough, set your fans up so that cool air is blowing over the rig.  You can also set temperature thresholds so that the GPU clocks itself down if it hits a certain temp.  Get yourself at least two box fans to provide airflow.  If you are in a colder climate you can use the waste heat to help keep your house warm!

Install the graphics cards one at a time.

Intel are suggesting a 1-2 month dispatch delay for the G3900 Any recommendations?

Going for the Mobo: ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 S1150 Intel H81 2x DDR3 Motherboard,
Have heard is a good starting Mobo for mining Smiley

Also the SSD i am struggling to find identical model in the UK, is this ok to use?

If your going for that mobo, there are a lot of cheap i3s at ebay that can be perfectly match with that mobo also just buy the cheapest SSD with atleast 120gb. 60gb isnt enough when you fill those with different wallets. IMHO

Yes, I have the 60gb KingDian SSD and it has been fine so far, you can get the 120gb model if you think you'll use the extra space.

G3900 uses the 1151 socket on the mobo, your mobo above uses 1150 so another option for your CPU is the Intel Celeron G1840 Processor if you can find one in stock.

Is this what i am after? as its not the same as the first Intel listing for G1840.

Just been told my next 4 1080 ti's will be here saturday good times.

Cool, good news on the cards, looks to be the right CPU anyway, here's the Amazon link, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Celeron-G1840-Processor-LGA1150/dp/B00K5OJ0TS/

As long as you pick up a CPU that supports the 1150 socket on that motherboard, another example is the Pentium G3260.

Beast cards, great for mining

You also don't need that much wattage. Just get two 850W Gold / Platinum PSUs.

I also wouldn't use that mobo. It's bios isn't updated as much and don't expect that much support. It's only 6 PCI-e lanes, and there are tons of other mobos that have 6 PCI-e lanes.

Also you need, CPU, RAM, SSD/HHD and cable risers.

Should i change the PSU to 2X 850W? I want to upgrade my rig to 8 GPU one day would it be worth throwing the extra in now for 1600W or go for 2 850?

Generally 2 smaller PSU instead of one huge PSU are cheaper -> faster ROI. If you can get the 850W at Platinum grade vs the 1600W at Gold grade it's a no-brainer.

For the smaller PSU, they do not have enough PCIE power cable. So check before you order.

If You do not mind to use server PSU with PICO adapter then look here: http://www.parallelminer.com/product-category/power-supply-kit/ and http://www.parallelminer.com/product/160watt-24pin-atx-power-module-included-sata-molex-cpu-power-connectors-bypass-your-atx-power-supply-entirely/ .
A lot cheaper than ATX ones!
My rig runs on 2 PSUs: GPUs,risers+some random stuff on 2400w server PSU and MOBO on 700w LEPA Gold rated PSU (You do not really need that powerful for just powering MOBO but I got an awesome deal on it Smiley)

Using the same MOBO what You want to get and also using Celeron G1840 on it. Everything works very well!

2 of Cooler Master Mega Flow 200 Blue Case Fan '700 RPM, 200mm, Blue LED' R4-LUS-07AB-GP

2 of YIKESHU PCIe PCI-E 16x 8x 4x 1x Powered Riser Adapter Card w/ 60cm USB 3.0 Extension Cable & 6-Pin PCI-E to SATA Power Cable - GPU Riser Adapter - Eth

ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 S1150 Intel H81 2x DDR3 Motherboard - Grey

Intel BX80646G1840 - Celeron Dual Core G1840 CPU 1150 54W 2.8GHz 2MB Cache 22nm HD GFX

Corsair CMX4GX3M1A1600C9 XMS3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 Performance Desktop Memory Module

Next Question is... Will i need any more power? I can grab a 750W from my local pc world if needs be, Not sure how much juice 4 cards and the MOBO will require.

Another question is will i need any special cables for any of the bits? i believe the PSU comes with 6-8 cables for connecting the cards but they have not been delivered yet so i do not know for sure.

Thanks guys!

1300w power is Fairly enough for the 4 TI's, However, I guess you're short on cables, as the psu only has 6x 8pins(6+2) and 2x 6Pins.

basically you still need this in order to power them all.

Thanks Leonix! Smiley

So i will need 4 of these to run from the PSU to the GPU correct?

This is all very new to me, yet very exciting, Love new projects very eager to get running before BTG is minable.

Yep, there are still challenges ahead of it, we are only talking about hardware here, prepare for the software side.

Goodluck!

Right all hardware is here, Apart from a couple of PCI-E 6+2 cables but they are due first thing...

Will get some pics of the rig when i have got it all together tonight.

Will be installing windows 10 tonight onto the MOBO and setting up so i can work remotely from indoors.

Any suggestions on the setup side of things?

I plan to run 1 GPU while installing windows ect then do i need to install each card separate?

Regarding the PSU too i have EVGA 1300W G2 when powering this up is there any safe or unsafe way of doing so, Do NOT want to blow her up on first attempt!

Just to let everyone here know that farnhamit is James Wright and he scammed a lot of people on Facebook with his ponzi scheme ecobitcoin.co. He's still the admin of the FB group Plexcoin where he started his scam. He probably used the bitcoins (more than 11) that he stole to buy this hardware.
