PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE TOPIC BEFORE REPLYING, THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Hello everyone, I am at a HUGE crossroads in my life right now and it is eating away at me every day. I don't have too many people in my life that I can turn to for help on things like this, and I know this is a cryptocurrency community so the answers I will receive here will most likely be biased, but please try to answer with your honest opinions. Thank you for your opinions in advance.

So basically, without linking my channel, I have been working on a YouTube channel for about 7 month now and have amassed over 25,000 subscribers. For lack of better terms the channel is basically a click bait channel, constructed mostly for monetary gain. I love YouTube and have always wanted to have some kind of community built on the platform, but with the amount of competition that is currently trying to do the same thing, you need to have some kind of edge on the game. The videos I post are mostly reaction videos where I take a few clips of crazy things happening and I react to them. I make the titles for example something like "KID GETS EATEN BY SHARK!" then I will react to a few videos of shark attacks or whatever, having a thumbnail that looks like a shark attack. Sometimes these videos can do really well but most of the time they do poorly if they don't get into YouTubes recommended algorithm. Another thing is that you really don't build any kind of trust or fan-base on your channel when doing this. I am 20 years old currently paying for my entire college tuition among other bills, and having some side hustles really helps with that. I have over 1.2M views on the channel all together and have made a little over $2,000 from it thus far. I enjoy seeing the channel do well and getting views, but when I see my videos do terribly like they have been for the last few months, it really gets to me. I can honestly say I do not enjoy making the type of videos that I currently make, but they do decent in terms of growing my channel.

I started really learning about cryptocurrencies and bitcoin around the same time I started my channel. I fell in love with the idea of them and how interesting it was to see bitcoin become so popular over such a small period of time. The potential they have is insane and I love learning about them. I am in no way an expert but I feel like I can give a unique perspective to those who have been in the scene for a while. I also think I can bring an entertainment value to the cryptocurrency content scene because in my opinion it is a bit lacking in that field. Most of the crypto YouTubers I watch are very knowledgeable and I learn a lot from them, but I find my mind wandering because of the lack of entertainment value.

In the end, I love crypto and I don't see myself not being involved with it anytime soon. I would actually enjoy the videos I create if I switched my channel over to a Crypto News/Updates/Investment channel, and I know I could build an awesome community of people as well. However, I would be certain to lose quite the amount of subscribers and views on my channel. Which long term, might be for the better if I switch now, but short term it is going to be really hard to see my channel go through this transition period. So I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice on what you would do in this situation. I love YouTube and I love the crypto world, but I am not sure if it is the right time to conjoin the two. Thanks for your time and have an awesome day Smiley.

No, I doubt most of them will even know what it is. However, most of my subscribers are not there for me or my content, if I happen to be reacting to some videos they find interesting, they might watch.

I guess it would be better then to start over again with 0 subs, but reading your OP, i don't think your current ""viewers"" are going to support this change en masse..

But, as you are already kind of established with your 25k subs, it could indeed be that people would View/Subscribe faster then if you were to start over, with a new channel that would be dedicated to specifically crypto.

It's not like all of your current subscribers will somehow instantly unsub, but i would suspect that some of them will.

In all honesty, there aren't that many people out there that watch videos on youtube on how crypto works.
Unless you would be able to plug your content to reddit/r/bitcoin for example, you're still gonna have an extremely hard time growing.

These are just my suspections / opinions.

Yeah, either way it won't be easy. But I suppose I would rather be creating content I actually enjoy making rather than just following whatever trend is hot. Thank you for your response by the way, I appreciate the feedback!

That could be a good idea. I mean you won't get all 25k on board right away but at least you can start building a gathering if you continue to deliver quality content. There is too much lame crypto content out there.

It seems like they're two very different communities. The whole click bait channel crowd I don't think would be interested in complicated stuff like cryptocurrency

It would be better if you will make your content consistent to your channel. Create a separate channel if you want another content.

I don't really understand how you believe changing the "topic" or coverege of your channel will keep the subscribers you have still interested in following you. Your audience clearly subsribed to your channel to watch content related to "KID GETS EATN BY SHARK", which would put the demographic of your audience to mostly kids/teenagers/youngsters. If you'll start popping videos about Bitcoin and blow up news about how ETH got a massive 5% gain and it's market cap increase by e.g. 5 billion and so forth, do you believe any of your audience will care about that stuff? I'd recommend to create a second channel and dedicate it to crypto, by changing the content of your channel the only thing you'll achieve is getting unsubscribed and losing viewers count, there aren't many interested in this stuff (even though they should) and especially kids/teenagers.

Thank you for all of the responses, I appreciate the opinions more than you know!

In my opinion, it would be better for me to switch my channel over from what it currently is to Crypto because it would be easier to amass a following having some set numbers. People are more likely to watch a channel with a few thousand subscribers rather than one with 0. As well as the way YouTube works now where you can't partner with them until 10k views on your channel which means your videos will never get into the recommended algorithm to help grow you initially.

I see what you all are saying in terms of me losing my current subscriber base, but I feel like it would be better to do it now rather than later.

Thoughts?

It is worth remembering about the rule: if I don't use public transport it does not mean that others don't use. A very large number of people are starting to learn cryptocurrency is through video.

alot of youtuber that i subs who have another hobbies tend to make separate channel rather than changing the direction of the main channel..
its hard to gain 25k subs and that would be bad if they lost their interest in your channel and you lost your income from it..
you already have viewer..why not try to persuade them to subs on your new crypto channel..its less risky than changing the channel direction.
you can promote your channel at the beginning, middle or at the end in each of your video..try to persuade them by showing them the benefit and how promising cryptocurrency are..or you can make small giveaway to subs both of your channel..
